Canon PIXMA iP90 photo printer

A portable printer which can match the best desktop ink-jets when it comes to speed and output quality, Canon PIXMA iP90 weighs 2kg / 4.4 pounds (including the AC adapter) with dimension of 2.0 x 12.2 x 6.9 inches (H x W x D), which is actually larger and heftier than some notebooks. However, when it comes to performance, the iP90 delivers fabulous results.

The Canon PIXMA iP90 squeezes in plenty of plenty of connectivity options. Courtesy the USB, IrDA (infrared), and optional Bluetooth, taking print from a computer, PDA, cell phone, or PictBridge camera is permitted. In addition, you can purchase a car adapter and a rechargeable battery if need be.

The photo printer falters when it comes to the paper handling and ink capacity feature. The input tray can accommodate a paltry 30-sheets. If that is not bad enough, no output tray is provided as a result of which you have to continuously keep moving away the printed papers to avoid jamming the subsequent ones.

Ink cartridges of iP90 are also disappointingly small. Canon guarantees 100 pages per color cartridge and 185 pages for text.

Another major trouble is that if you want to carry it along while traveling, you’ll have to bear a somewhat heavy load. If you are prepared for this, you can print PowerPoint presentations on the go and even prints photos quickly.

Performance on the business applications suite can be termed as acceptable clocking a time of 25 minutes and 14 seconds. Photo print speeds are pleasantly fast. Each 4 x 6 takes 2 minutes and 10 seconds while an 8 x 10 needs 4 minutes and 52 seconds.

Coming to the quality of output, it definitely gets a thumbs up. Both Text and graphics prints are perceptible. General text fonts needs 4 points while a number of stylized fonts are clearly readable at 12 points. There aren’t any major issues with the graphics quality which deserve a mention. Except for slight shadiness in monochrome photos and a little posterization in the color prints, the results are rather impressive.

It’s bulky no doubt. But with great speed, pleasant print quality, and a number of connectivity features, it will be difficult for customers in quest of a portable printer to ignore this.

Good printer for personal use
A portable printer handy for those constantly on the move. Quality of print-outs is good and speed is fabulous. Sometimes, it tends not to handle paper well. So take care you do not have documents with many pages. The ink cartridges goive you only 180 pages of text. Very suitable for personal use.
