Canon PIXMA iP4200
An ink-jet printer with dimensions of 6.3 x 16.5 x 11.8-inch (H x W x D) and weighing 14.8-pounds, styling of iP4200 is pleasant with the silver plastic case which makes it solid and elegant compared to some other Canon offerings.
The Canon PIXMA ip4200 comes with five inks instead of the customary four. So apart from cyan, yellow, and magenta cartridges, there are cartridges for a pigment-based black and a dye-based black which are incorporated chiefly for improving the photo output quality.
Among one of the striking features of iP4200 is the paper-handling. You are provided with two input trays, each with the capacity of holding 150 papers. It is possible to load either the standard paper or the photo paper in the trays. Automatic duplexing function allows you to print on both sides of a sheet.
Setup is the same as with other Canon ink-jets. For connectivity options, there is the USB cable. A PictBridge connector facilitates printing directly from a PictBridge compatible camera. Absence of a media slot in ink-jets has become rather familiar and so no surprises in store here.
The iP4200 delivers exceptionally good performance.Text prints are quick at 6.9 pages per minute as are plain-paper graphics at 2.5 ppm. The business application suite takes no more than 15 minutes and 4 seconds. Photo print speeds are also encouraging. Every 4 x 6 photo takes 1 minute and 18 seconds while an 8 x 10 photo print averages 3 minutes and 12 seconds.
Moving on to the print quality, the text output is not among the best ones in the category. The fonts are readable at 5 points but for stylized fonts, you need to go up to 12 points.
Graphics also aren’t good enough for important official use. So you better not try them out for anything other than internal purposes or school projects for kids. The curling phenomenon of full page graphics is quite a common occurrence which needs to be done away with.
A slight pink tint is discernible in monochrome photos and colour photos look unnatural with darker colour reproduction. In spite of these few glitches, iP4200 is still good enough for snapshots.
According to the manufacturers, the new-generation ink and paper is capable of lasting for a century if preserved in an album with plastic sleeves and 30 years if framed behind glass.
Canon PIXMA iP4200 may be marketed as a photo printer but it has enough capabilities to be termed as a multi-purpose printer.

this is nice
Photo prints from this printer are of high-quality. It prints on both sides of the paper without compromising on quality. It is not as speedy, but definitely cost-effective. The photos are supposed to long for 100 years, according to Canon!
