Canon PIXMA iP2000
With the PIXMA iP2000, Canon makes an effort to explore unknown territories by treading in some paths not taken by its predecessors in the photo printer segment. However, it has precious little extra to offer when compared to iP1500 and that too at a much higher price and nothing in comparison with iP3000 which is slightly costlier.
Akin to iP1500, the Canon PIXMA iP2000 is also a basic four-color printer. The speed of printing of iP2000 is surprisingly rapid. On an average, you will get 6.6 pages per minute for printing text while each 8x10 photo will require 2.8 minutes. This is any time better than many other models in the same category.
Having dimensions of 6.6 x 16.5 x 10.2 inches (H x W x L), among another of its impressive features is the inclusion of two USB ports; a USB 1.1 port on the back and the second one on the front panel courtesy which you can print from a PictBridge camera.
When it comes to the cartridge used, iP2000 employs the same low-capacity black and tricolor cartridges used by iP1500. With the capacity of ink cartridges being quite low, the printer is recommended only for light-duty printing. The included software and drivers are the same ones used for other Pixma printers. You will not find any memory card slot in iP2000.
The business applications suite in iP2000 took 26 minutes 48 seconds and photo suite registered a time of 23 minutes and 48 seconds. This is as good as nothing when you realize that iP3000 needs a mere 15 minutes and 48 seconds for the business suite and 11 minutes and 3 seconds for the photo suite.
Importantly, the printing quality is very much impressive. Text is readable without much trouble even at small fonts. Graphics weren’t bad but here you have some reason to feel aggrieved as there are minor issues with the quality. However, it was not all that different from iP3000. The inclination of the printing sheets with full page graphics to twirl is also irritating. Photos could have been termed as great but for the colours looking just a little shady.
iP2000 needs to be appreciated for it swiftness in printing and also the final output quality despite a few minor hitches. However, the dilemma for customers will be that they can get much more from iP3000 by spending a few extra pounds.

good for high-volume document printing
Canon seems to work hard filling every possible niche with its photo printer lines. With the Canon PIXMA iP2000, however, it may have gone one niche too far. Priced at $80 direct, the printer offers a little more than the $50 iP1500.
Priced at $80, this is a typical CMYK printer, but with some value-adds. It uses lower-capacity cartridges when compared to iP 3000. Graphics are not as well replicated as the text. Same goes for photos. However, if your use is restricted more to text and you do not want to pay that extra cent, this is a steal.
