HP Pavilion ze2200 Notebook PC series

The HP pavilion ze2200 by no means falls into the category of great notebooks. But depending on the extent to which you are technologically inclined, this device can be looked upon differently by various users. In short, it has got enough utilitarian features to cater to the niche notebook users who are satisfied with all the rudimentary features plus a little more.

Embracing the impressive 15-inch XGA screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768, the notebook is oddly shaped with dimensions of 33.4 cm (W) x 27.42 cm (L) x 3.28 cm (H). Thankfully, it isn’t as heavy as you think it might be when you look at it. Weighing 2.95 kg (6.5 lbs) without the power adapter, it shouldn’t be all that uncomforting.

When utilizing the AMD's Mobile Sempron 3000+ processor having a speed of 1.8-GHz with a standard memory 512MB, ze2200 could not perform rapid operations. But it was quick enough when it came to using most of the customary programs and even managed to fit in a decent number of open windows without much trouble.

Keyboard layout is extremely comprehensible which makes typing nice and comfortable. The touchpad included as the pointing device functions very efficiently.

The incorporated DVD burner is a useful inclusion. Audio features are very good courtesy the highly audible stereo sound. Volume controls can be located in a panel above the keyboard flanked by a Wi-Fi button.

But while some nice striking features were noticed, there were a number of disappointing aspects too. The notebook doesn’t come with a FireWire port. Lower configurations do not encompass even a memory card reader or a docking connection for a port replicator. Battery life of approximately 2 hours is thoroughly unsatisfactory.

Of course, if you aren’t completely satisfied with the features, which could be a possibility, upgrading the device is extremely simple. Making use of a screwdriver, you will be able to access the memory chips and the hard drive of the compartments you want to upgrade within seconds.

A majority of this notebook’s documentation is electronic and the Acrobat user manual provided will also come in very handy. Microsoft Works 8 is the common software on all models.

It is not exceptionally quick in performance and also doesn’t come with highly advanced features but what it has is good basic capabilities which should be sufficient for home usage and even the small business firms.

The HP pavilion ze2200 by no means falls into the category of great notebooks. Not bad for home use
My major complaint about HP Pavilion ze2200 Notebook PC series was its short battery life. Otherwise, it is value for money at <$900. It has a DVD burner, ok sound reproduction and a conveniently designed keyboard. It is also light weight at 6.5 pounds. However, a FireWire port is missing.

Not bad for home use or SOHO.
