Sony DW-Q28A
Sony is considered to be the last word when it comes to Dual Format and Double Layer DVD recorders. Sony DW-Q28A is the latest CD/DVD burner that has some new features and improvements. DVD-R recording speed has undergone an increase to 16X max, while the Double Layer +R performance has been hiked to 4X, 8X of DVD+RW speed and 6x to DVD-RW.
It makes burning of digital pictures, home movies, music et al much faster than before. You can be rest assured about the quality .
As it belongs to the Dual RW division, you can burn both standard 4.7GB DVD+R, +RW discs and CD-R/RW discs.
Recording modes it supports are disc-at-once, multisession, track-at-once, session-at-once, packet writing, incremental recording, restricted overwrite, sequential write.
It has an Access Time is 160 minutes for DVDs and 160 for CDs.
It also features a Built-in Flash-ROM for online upgradability.
Minimum Systems Requirements are CPU of Pentium 4 1.4 gigahertz, Hard Disk Drive of 800 MB and 1 GB free space for copying CD to CD image and 10 GB free space for DVD authoring.
It runs on OS of Windows 98 and later versions.
It is portable weighing only 0.9 kg with 14.6 cm width, 16.5 cm depth and 4.1 cm height.

Easy to use with Nero 6
I just got one and installed in a snap. Nero 6 recognized the drive right away. Windows still shows it as CD-ROM drive but it burned no problem. Reduced my burning time in half of my Dad's old 1X drive. That includes encoding.

another burn problem with DW Q28A
yes I have the same problem, once burned without error the dvd does not read- its sh**e!!! any1 know how to fix

Burned dvd does not read
yes I have the same problem, once burned without error the dvd does not read, I was given a replacement but that also had the same problem, the support asked me to try the 3rd replacement, I thought it was a waste of time waiting for hours to get the dvd movies burned and then not working..
I have shifted to another brand samsung, I have so far not faced any problem.. happy now...

burn problem with DW Q28A
I am disappointed with sony dvd burner, right from day 1 it did not burn the movie dvds properly in fact, it creates problem when the data size is above 2 GB. There is no error show the burn is successful, but when u try to read it does not, say’s insert dvd. I also noticed that the burn area on the dvd is not constant, meaning I can see 2 or more different shades, don’t know what it means may be the burn process speed changes, I tried using different speed, 2x, 4x, 6x all the same problem, got the dvd replaced but still same problem. I have already destroyed 20 dvds. I think I better try another brand..
Anyone out there having the same problem?
