Dell Inspiron 1200
The Inspiron 1200 from Dell is not feature rich in any sense. On the contrary, it does not enclose even many of the standard functions. So you will have to spend extra bucks to buy upgraded features.
This Dell laptop integrates the 1.30 GHz Celeron M 350 processor. Very much like the Pentium M processor, the major difference here can be seen in the lower bus speeds and cache which undoubtedly slows down the functioning of the laptop.
A key to Dell's success can be attributed to the fact that customers have always had the option of the customizing the configurations of Dell's computers. However, in the Dell Inspiron 1200, many of the customizable features have been done away with, but for a handful.
Memory features consist of the 256MB of DDR memory, which is reasonable for word processing, Internet and e-mailing.
Storage facility is nothing near great; Inspiron 1200 ships with just a 40GB hard drive. The 24x CD-RW/DVD combo drive can be utilized for CD burning, watching DVD’s and a few other useful options.
Inspiron 1200 encompasses a 15" LCD display along with the Intel integrated graphics. Again nothing extraordinary but the graphics will be pretty acceptable unless you are too much of a 3D buff.
We mentioned in the introduction that even some basic functions have been overlooked by Dell manufacturers for this product. The absence of a media card reader is a glaring instance of such ignorance.
Connectivity options should never be neglected in today’s ever advancing day and age. Dell, however, has committed this fatal error. To access wireless features, you will have to purchase a PC card as the Inspiron 1200 holds only a type II PC Card slot.
You will be equally disappointed to learn that the laptop does not enclose the FireWire port as well, which means digital videos can’t be imported. Thankfully, you are able to make use of the USB 2.0 ports included.
Using the Windows XP Home operating system, this Dell product weighs a very acceptable 6.33 pounds and has reasonably portable dimensions of 13" x 10.6" x 1.5".
Norton Internet Security is the major safety feature while the warranty available is one year.
With the Lithium ion battery, Inspiron 1200 is capable of running for close to 2.5 hours.
Greatly portable but lacking many of the standard functions, it can be rated only as a moderate Dell creation.

God knows what mood Dell was in while designing the 1200! Well, im in a very foul mood after buying this one at least! With no media card reader and absence of basic connectivity facilities, u are at a complete loss if u go for the Inspiron 1200.
