Dell Inspiron 2200
Dell Inspiron 2200 is nothing more than an entry level laptop but to its credit, it delivers good results with whatever basic features it encompasses.
It isn’t aesthetically brilliant. In fact its designing is very much mediocre with a simple matte black finishing. The edges are not curved. Even the interior styling is nothing near astonishing with the same monotonous matte black colour scheme and some green LED’s for different display purposes.
Despite this not so impressive styling, the Dell Inspiron 2200 is still recommendable for those looking for a basic laptop which will produces good results and if you in believe in substance over style.
It won’t be right to say that the Inspiron 2200 is exceptionally lightweight at 6 pounds. Carrying it around in a big not that big a problem but the trouble arises when you actually are operating it.
The display of 2200 is good with the high-resolution 15" XGA (1024 x 768) 1.5- inch screen. Though the display is sharp, it is probably a bit too shady. The ghosting certainly doesn’t help you view DVD’s at peak brightness.
Total dimension of the laptop is a tad bigger than the 15-inch display. As anticipated, the keyboard is smaller than a standard one.
Using the function button, you can toggle the wireless connection, keep a tab on the battery status, alter the brightness, volume, and also make use of the numpad.
Overall, the layout is good but not intuitive enough. The small backspace key is placed just adjoining the Home key which means a lot of times you end up going back to the beginning of the line instead of deleting a word.
The heat generated through 2200 is also very often a lot. In spite of the ventilation provided, you still might find your clothes getting very hot. Keeping the fan on for a long time also reduces the battery life.
Making use of the M processor, however, enhances the battery status. When using only low load programs, the battery can run for more than 4 hours. But on utilising the high power consuming features, the battery life falls down by almost half. In fact, CD burning itself eats up 10% of your battery life.
Despite a few flaws and a not so impressive design, the Dell Inspiron 2200 is a good option for people in need of a simple, efficient laptop with all the basic computing features.

Should be very good for students
I wouldn't say it's an entry level laptop. It provides all the multimedia experience one looks for. For a student like me, it is of immense use and a great convenience.
