FinePix E900 Zoom
The latest entrant in Fuji’s ‘E’ category digital cameras, Finepix E900 features an impressive 9-megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom and ample of shooting options.
Compactly designed in robust black, it is easy to use and has a comfy gripping mechanism. With dimensions of 102 x 63 x 34.4 mm, it weighs a hefty 200g even without the battery and memory card.
The 5th Generation Super CCD HR advanced sensor facilitates taking large nine megapixel size prints without compromising on the image quality.
You will find plenty of choices for a good photographic experience.
The camera’s zoom lens range of 32-128mm (35mm equivalent) can be put to test in different lighting environments.
Shooting options comprise Auto, Programmed AE, Aperture Priority AE, Shutter Priority AE and Manual. There are four scene modes; Natural, Portrait, Sports and Night.
A big two-inch LCD screen can be used from composing shots and watching videos.
White Balance choices and Flash settings are also present.
There is a movie mode where you can capture video clips of 640 x 480 and 320 x 240 pixel resolution at 30 fps with sound.
ISO sensitivity range is vast (80-800).
Easy printing is facilitated (without connecting to a PC) via a PictBridge compatible printer.
E900 encompasses Fujifilm’s Real Photo Technology which is capable of delivering razor-sharp images with minimal noise irritation even when making use of high ISO settings.
Manufacturers claim that the advanced sensor can be used in conjunction with Real Photo Processor technology which results in exceptional pictures even in tricky conditions.
Among another striking feature is ‘Highlight Warning’ in the live histogram through which the shooter can preview images and locate if there are blunders in the ‘to be’ captured shot.
Image saving can be done either in the RAW or JPEG format while movies are stored as Motion JPEG videos.
For storing purposes, E900 comes with the 16MB xD-Picture Card. You can always purchase higher capacity cards.
E900 ships with 2 rechargable NiMH batteries and a charger which saves a good amount of time and money.
On performance testing, E900 is exceptionally quick. Start up time of the camera is 1.3 seconds. The shutter lag is negligible. Also, having great sensitivity potential, the camera shakes and image blurring are minimal.
Likely to be out in the market by October, E900 Zoom has some prominent features. But only time will tell how much the consumers appreciate it.
