Finepix S3500 Zoom

This 4-megapixel camera doesn’t encompass any advanced functions. But with the 6x optical zoom lens and all the easy to use elementary features present, it is certainly a great option for beginner photographers.

While the overall build quality is appealing, the camera is reasonably hefty weighing 285g without battery and media and it also cannot be termed as compact considering its dimensions of 99.7 x 77.3 x 69.3 mm. But the camera has a rock-solid feel and can be gripped comfortably.

As with many other Fuji cameras, the S3500 accommodates easy to use features. Operating the menu system won’t cause trouble even to the novices.

A 1.5" LCD facilitates framing shots and accessing menus. A special feature permits illuminating the screen for better lowlight viewing.

The incorporated flash has a range of 3.5m while the various flash modes comprise automatic always on, always off, red eye reduction, slow synchro and slow synchro with red eye reduction. It is also possible to modify the flash radiance.

Four scene modes are included for different shooting conditions; they are portrait, landscape, sports and night shots.

Using the macro mode, you can capture close up shots from a 10 cm distance.

It is also possible to take self-portraits courtesy the 10 second self-timer.

As expected for a point-and-shoot capability camera, there are hardly any manual modes except for exposure compensation, white balance and aperture priority. You also have an option of modifying image sharpness.

Video shooting capabilities of S3500 are very much curtailed. You can capture either 320x240 or 160x120 resolution movie clips at a paltry 10 fps.

The USB cable is supplied for connectivity functions.

Storing images is done on the 16MB xD card provided. But for the unsatisfied souls, the camera is complaint with xD cards up to a maximum of 512MB.

The S3500 is powered by 4xAA batteries. But it is very essential that users purchase rechargeable batteries.

Picture quality of shots taken with this camera is not exceptional but considering the minimal features it encompasses, there is not much of a reason to complain. Bright light shots are comprehensive with proper colour representation. Even the dim light shots weren’t bad though the focusing does look improper in a few instances. Overall the images look pretty natural. Even close photographs don’t disappoint.

With user friendly features and fairly acceptable image quality, S3500 is a highly recommended camera for the amateur snapshooters.

This 4-megapixel camera doesn’t encompass any advanced functions. But with the 6x optical zoom lens and all the easy to use elementary features present, it is certainly a great option for beginner photographers.

I don’t know much about cameras. Even purchasing this camera was recommended to me by one of my colleagues. And thanks to him, I’ve got a very good camera. I like it b’coz doesn’t trouble me at all. There are simple to use features and doesn’t cost u a lot as well. Once I went through the user guide, I knew exactly what I had to do to get good pictures. Most of the images I’ve taken have been good and the enlarged pictures did not look distorted. Rechargeable batteries will come in handy. I am a bit to raw to point out any technical flaws in the camera. For me this is the perfect one.
