Finepix A350 Zoom
Fujifilm FinePix A350 Zoom is an economical click-and-shoot camera sporting a 5.2-megapixel sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens and a radiant LCD monitor.
Designed in brushed silver plastic, A350 weighs only 132g without the battery and memory card while the dimensions of 90.0 x 60.0 x 30.3 mm make it fairly compact. A zoom lever is placed on the back which is uncomfortable to operate as it is crammed between two controls. The menu system is well organized apart from the setup menu.
Feature wise, A350 is not very rich. There is an automatic shooting option and four standard scene modes. Manual modes comprise only of exposure compensation (1/3EV increments) and white balance settings. Further, there are flash and red-eye reduction features, self-timer and continuous shooting modes that can provide between 5 to 69 pictures. An auto multi metering system is included for exposure control.
A350’s aperture range of f/2.8 to f/4.7 is reasonably good. One of the major disappointments however is the absence of an autofocus illuminator. The camera encompasses a 35mm equivalent 3X optical zoom lens.
Also, A350 features a macro mode for close up photography wherein you can click snaps from a closeness of 2.4 inches.
In the movie mode, it is possible to capture 320x240 or 160x120 resolution video clips with sound at a rather disappointing rate of 15fps.
Images captured are saved in the JPEG format while movie clips are stored as AVI files.
Analysing the performance, you get only mediocre results. The camera needs 4 seconds to boot-up. Recycling even without the flash takes 3.2 seconds while using the flash, it isn’t comparatively bad at 3.8 seconds.
In the burst mode you can capture five maximum resolution shots in 5 seconds. But the disappointing feature is the camera needs more than 20 seconds to resume shooting after this. The shutter delay is acceptable at 0.4 seconds in radiant conditions and 0.6 seconds in the dark.
While the LCD is clear, unfortunately it reveals only 90 percent of the total picture. Don’t expect too much from the optical viewfinder either which exposes only 75%. Flash features too are inadequate.
Image quality of A350 gives you a sought of ‘in between’ feeling. The colours look lively yet natural but it’s the sharpness aspect which is a let down. In dim conditions, the picture focussing is very much inadequate.
If you can comprise a bit of quality for a low cost point-and-shoot camera, only then consider the A350 Zoom as an option.

Brilliant camera
This is a truly magnificent camera. I have not seen many better ones. The images taken from this camera are wonderful. LCD display is very crisp. Also the camera is very compact. I can take it everywhere I go. And hey didn’t cost me a fortune either. I have experienced in the past that video recording qualities of camera aren’t that cool. But dude this A350 has certainly proved it wrong. The movies shot are top class. I only felt a bit let down when the saw the quality of pictures taken in the dark wasn’t really that great. But later I did realise that it was something quite expected. And well memory cards too are a tad expensive. But overall, it is very much a camera from the top drawer.

An alright piece
As a user of the Fujifilm FinePix A350, I give it an average rating. It is an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera. It has 5.2-megapixel resolution which is an improvement over the 4 megapixels of the A340. It also has a self-closing cover, so you needn't use a lens cap. Other features include a 3X optical zoom and a macro mode. There are chances that you could find the FinePix A350 a VFM too.
