Finepix F810 Zoom
A 6-megapixel click-and-shoot camera, F810 Zoom is meant for laidback photographers who click just for hobby.
The camera delivers excellent images using its impressive 1/1.7 inch Super CCD HR sensor, 4x optical zoom lens and many manual options. The incorporated sensor is bigger than many other cameras in this category and even the megapixel resolution (6.3) is better than some others in the point and shoot type digital cameras.
Enclosed in a compact, robust looking metal body, F810 has dimensions of 109.5 X 54.0 X 29.0 mm and fits into a pocket easily. Also weighing 200 g without batteries and the memory card, it is relatively lightweight.
Features offered by F810 include the various exposure modes like aperture-priority, shutter-priority, manual, and program mode.
White balance settings of F810 feature Fine, Shade, Fluorescent, Incandescent and Custom.
Flash features include Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed Flash, Slow Synchro etc. Metering modes consist of multi, spot and average.
Using PictBridge, you can print directly without connecting to your PC.The best recommended pint size for this camera is at 12x16. For better night shooting results, an AF illuminator is present.
Additionally, F810 encompasses a high resolution 2.1 inch widescreen LCD, ISO sensitivities and a continuous shooting mode where you can take 40 snaps at 1.6 fps.
F810’s LCD is one of the high points of the camera. It can be operated in both widescreen and normal mode.
In the movie mode, you can shoot 640x480 and 320x240 pixel video clips at the rate of 30 fps.
For file saving, F810 is complaint with the RAW format. Images can be stored on the 16MB xD card. Pictures can also be transferred to a PC via a USB cable provided.
A tripod arrangement is provided but it’s not of great use as the connector placement is not exactly in the centre.
Among the softwares shipped with F810 are ImageMixer VCD2 and FinePix viewer
Analysing it closely, you realize that the camera is identical to F700 with the sensor being only exception. Otherwise, F810 is very much the same with speedy operations and a number of manual controls.
The camera start up is prompt. Coming to the picture quality, the amateurs using it will be very much pleased. The images look very sharp with bright, radiant colour reproduction.
Considering the nice picture quality and good features, F810 can be rated as a very good point-and-shoot camera.

Less than satisfactory
Won’t rate this as a good camera. Its got loads and loads of features. But that does not translate into all that great picture quality. Camera performance is speedy no doubt. But pictures look very much under exposed. Images shot in the dark are just 2 terrible. I was highly disappointed with the automatic settings too. Manual modes weren’t any better. Really was expecting a lot more from this 6-megapixel camera. Turned out to be a big big disappointment.
