FinePix F455 Zoom
Finepix F455 Zoom is a stylish 5.2-megapixel camera with a 3.4x optical zoom and easy to use features.
Available in two colurs silver and black, it has portable dimensions of 92.6 x 56.4 x 21.7 mm and weighs only 150 g. (minus battery & memory card)
Dedicated controls for shooting modes like flash and macro are present while other functions can be exploited via the ‘Func’ button. The only disappointing factor is that the controls are too tiny.
Shooting modes comprise the auto, manual and customary scene modes like Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night etc.
Flash options feature auto, red-eye reduction, forced flash, suppressed flash, slow synchro etc while the white balance settings include fine, shade, fluorescent light, incandescent light and custom. The ISO sensitivity range is between 80-400.
Video recording capabilities of F455 allow capturing 320 x 240 pixel movie clips at 10 fps for 1 minute and 160 x 120 pixel clips (also at 10 fps) for 3 minutes in the M JPEG mode. It is also possible to record 5 minute videos on the memory card. While the sound quality is not great, it’s still a nice feature to have.
A 16MB xD card ships with the camera and you can always purchase higher capacity cards.. Another alternative is capturing images with lower resolutions.
F455 encompases a 2-inch TFT display which is reasonably clear revealing almost the entire image for framing shots. For further assistance, make use of the optical viewfinder.
The Li-ion batteries run for an adequate period before the need to recharge arises. Transpoting images to a PC is done courtesy the USB cable. A PictureCradle feature facilitates easy downloading and recharging.
Direct priting is possible with the PictBridge technology which allows taking prints without connecting to a PC.
The 5.2 megapixel sensor is competent in expanding the image size sans messing up the image quality. Zooming features too are pretty good thanks to the 3.4x optical zoom.
Picture quality is very good with accurate exposure and attention to detail in most aspects. Images captured in the macro mode also look surprisingly coherent. Lower sensitivity options are essential in producing lucid images even in bright light. Flash shots might not look great initially. But there are ample of adjustments to get the desired results whilst shooting in dim light conditions.
An excellent choice for amateurs on the look out for an easy to operate, point-and-shoot camera.

Exceptionally easy to use
Having used Fuji cameras before, I was reasonably sure what to expect of the F455 and it did not disappoint me in a big way. Most Fuji cameras are known for their easy to use features and this is very much the same. Designing is nice and even the small size is more than helpful. But more importantly, most of the pictures taken with this 5 megapixel camera are exceptionally good. The dim light pictures aren’t as good as the daylight ones. But that the only disappointment of this camera. Macro mode is sensational. This camera is rocking.
