Finepix S9500 Zoom
Targeted mainly at beginner photographers, Fujifilm S9500 Zoom is a 9-megapixel camera incorporating the Super CCD sensor and some excellent features which make it more than just an entry-level camera.
Most impressive is the 28-300mm zoom lens (equivalent on a 35mm camera) with twist-barrel zoom control. S9500 has a 10.7x optical zoom potential. For making the camera more user friendly, the lens and the body are closed together which prevents accumulation of dirt on the lens.
There is a 1.8 inch tilting LCD which is useful for framing shots difficult angles like ground level or above head.
For improved image quality, S9500 includes the Real Photo Technology.
ISO sensitivity of the camera ranges between 80 – 1600.
In movie mode, it is possible to capture 30 fps video clips with sound.
Stutter speeds of S9500 are in the region of 1/4 sec. to 1/4,000 sec.
Exposure control options feature Program AE, shutter priority AE, aperture priority AE, manual exposure. Multi, Spot and Average are the metering options present. White Balance features and Flash modes are also present.
Being PictBridge compatible, you can directly take prints without connecting the camera to your PC.
Image saving is facilitated via the JPEG and RAW format while for the movie mode you can use the Movie: AVI (Motion JPEG) option.
An AF illuminator is present for improved shooting in the dark. Super Macro Mode present facilitates shooting from a close range of 1.27cm.
Storage purposes are solved courtesy the 16MB Xd-Picture Card shipped. Additionally, you can purchase higher capacity cards up to a maximum of 1GB.
Performance wise, S9500 delivers some excellent results. Booting up the camera takes just 0.8 seconds while the shutter lag is almost non-existent at 0.01 seconds which means you can take shots almost spontaneously.
Image quality is first-rate. Even at high ISO ranges like 800, the quality of pictures is very attractive.
Overall, the results were pretty good with the exception of a few features like the RAW file saving option because you have to search it out from the menus and the conversion software is also of very poor quality.
Powered by 4 x AA-type Alkaline batteries, S9500 has dimensions of 128.0 x 93 x 129.0 mm and weighs 645g when the batteries and memory card are not installed.
Apart from a couple of hiccups, Finepix S9500 Zoom looks like a great offering from Fujifilm especially for novice photographers.

for 5000 aficianados
Has modifications to the 5000 make.It does not give you the option of reading the manua. Camera is bigger than s5000. Recording time is longer, but this has a 9 million pixel file. Viewing is much clearer and brighter than the s5000. The movie image is upgraded and is better than the earlier version.
