Sony DSC-P10

An ultra compact camera, the DSC-P10 has powerful 5.0-megapixels sheathed in a very attractive, yet robust body of aluminium.

Housing a 3x optical zoom lens, the P10 stores images and videos in its recyclable Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro card. Both of these can be downloaded to PCs via the USB port or even moved to other digital devices like PDAs and printers. A 1.5" TFT color LCD with 123,000 pixels adorns the camera while offering the Auto Brightness option.

This point-and-shoot camera is amongst one of the most petite among its contemporaries, and runs on the InfoLithium battery set. Meanwhile, it has a 3-point multi-focus AF or ‘assist focus’ that enables precise focusing especially in dim lights or virtually dark scenes, through its focus-assist illuminator.

Moreover, 640x480 resolution VGA videos with sound can be recorded with this camera at 16fps through the MPEG-VX mode. The digital zoom is replaced here by the Smart Zoom that effectively utilises the imager’s full resolution at low resolution and zooms into the desired subject area by snipping the size of the image. The Auto Fill Flash option in this model enthuses the flash further and maximises the amount of light on the subject.

Fantastic camera with best picture quality
I purchased this camera quite a long time back and still find it amazing after using it for such a long time. There are plenty of simple, user friendly features which lead to excellent pictures. You can switch between the manual and automatic modes whichever you feel suits you best. LCD display turned out to be much better than what I expected. And even the video shooting mode was awesome. I do have a couple of complaints for Sony though. The ImageMixer software is pretty much useless. And what can one do with a memory stick as small as 32MB. I had to spend some money from pocket to get a bigger one. If these two points were taken care of, I could have said this is the best camera I have ever used. Anyways, it is still a high quality one.
