Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P12
This is one of the first cameras in this series and was a precursor to some magnificent pieces later on. This does not mean that this camera is not worthy of buying though. On the contrary, the 5.0 effective Megapixel, 3x optical zoom camera could prove to be an ideal tool for the outdoors. Sony's proprietary 1/1.8 inch Super HAD CCD is incorporated into the P12 and this gives the camera that extra edge over its competitors in the market.
The exterior is quite enticing with a dark blue compact aluminum body 157 cc. The Histogram Indication helps users identify if any shots are less than perfectly exposed and they can thereby correct it themselves. The MPEG VX with Audio feature ensures good quality video clips. Other interesting features include 14-bit DXP, Flash White Balance and Clear Colour NR, all of which are designed to optimize image quality.
The InfoLITHIUM battery provides an adequate battery life, but be sure to recharge on time. The DSC-P12 is Memory Stick Pro compatible and has got the Auto Daylight Synchronized Flash, another trademark Sony feature. The manual modes are a bit queasy though and could prove slightly tricky for inexperienced users.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P12 is ideally suited for outdoors point and shoot requirements.

Efficient point and shoot camera
This was the first digital camera I purchased as I am very happy with this camera has offered to me so far. It delivers exceptionally good photo quality thanks in main to the 5-megapixel sensor 3x optical zoom. I was not very sure about how good the photographs in dim light would look. But was surprisingly pleased to see the results though must say outdoor shots were still that much better. Apart from the performance, the designing of the camera too was very good. It is also small enough to be portable. But the best part of this camera is undoubtedly the battery life which is really long lasting. Feel the memory cards are a bit too costly. The provided memory of 16MB is also very small I feel. Another not so impressive feature has to be the flash which is good but creates stoppages when you are rapidly clicking pictures one after the other. Wud stay a nice point and shoot offering from sony
