Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F717
The Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F717 is a camera any professional would love to have in his/her equipment. Sony's trademark Carl Zeiss 5X optical zoom lens with a fast f2.0 aperture give this camera an unbeatable combination as far as the optics are concerned.
The only downside to an otherwise excellent ergonomics is the camera's bulk, it weighs around 1.5 pounds, something that ought to give photo buffs sleepless nights nursing their hands! And because of this bulk, users cannot be comfortably positioned to shoot great images. The DSC-F717 has a resolution of 5.0 Effective Megapixels with a 5x Optical Zoom. Sony's unique Hologram AF function focuses a beam of red light onto the subject thereby allowing a certain degree of creative freedom that would be welcomed by professionals.
A histogram display alerts users to improperly exposed pictures. Sony has included a nighttime mode in this camera so that color quality of images can be enhanced even in less than optimal conditions. The InfoLithium battery displays the remaining charge and is particularly useful in reminding on the go professionals to recharge it in time. The MPEG-video recording feature is also accompanied by audio, which is a nice touch. The DSC-F717 has 32MB of Memory and this can be added to if required. As far as the connectivity option is concerned, Sony has addressed this issue by including the USB 2.0 High Speed Transfer.
The laser-assisted autofocus system is a big plus in the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F717, though it would not be surprising if the bulk of the camera puts users off.

Exceptionally good Carl Zeiss lens
I am not a camera expert but love clicking photographs just as a hobby. Having said that, I do have reasonable knowledge about cameras and must confess that this is by far the best camera I have owned. Many people have told me that the Carl Zeiss lens is of very high quality and now after using this 5X optical zoom lens I too know why. I think the quality is good enough to attract professional photographers. What might make them turn away though is the weight of the camera which is definitely a bit too much for providing comfortable use. The 5-Megapixel sensor is also very handy for taking comprehensive pictures. More than happy with the included 32MB stick and also USB 2.0. gr8 camera 2 own. Me feels, u 2 shd have it.
