Sony CyberShot DSC-L1

A slim and trim camera, Sony CyberShot DSC-L1 is a 4.1-megapixel camera that is designed in an exemplary compact shape.

Featuring a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3X-optical zoom, the camera has as small dimensions as 3.7 x 1.7 x 1.1 and utilizes the InfoLithium battery. Furthermore, it sports the ‘Real Imaging Processor circuitry’ and produces high quality images with conspicuous speed and admirable efficiency.

This camera is the first ever Sony digital camera in the ultra-compact range to have a 1.5-inch LCD that is transflective. This attribute does away with shooting problems that one usually faces during bright sunlight, and instead renders it much easier to click snaps in bright light conditions.

What’s more, the camera is able to record the finest video clips in its MPEG Movie VX Fine mode and offers playback at high resolution of 640x480 pixels, at the rate of 30 frames per second. Besides, it dons a fast auto-focus along with other auto-exposure alternatives that will help you capture enthralling photos right from the start.

Meanwhile, you can take your pick from the L1’s interesting choice of colours and designs for you that range from brushed silver, dark blue matte, black and a striking dark red piano gloss.

The DSC-L1’s highlight, however, could be called its novel technologies, the linear focus drive along with the compact high-resolution optical systems, which together create the camera’s ‘ultra-small’ 3x optical lens. Thereby, you can easily zoom in to take a sharper view and picture of a flower, or alternatively zoom out to take a distant shot of a game; all of this without losing focus for even a single moment.

Nice features but defective build quality
When I bought this camera some two months ago, I was pleasantly surprised by its performance on a number of counts. Off all things, it looked a very cool camera with its trendy design and then, it also delivered good performance. Size too was not ultra large. Picture quality was good especially for casual shooting. But the big disappointment came when I had to capture fast-paced shots which did not come out very well. Apart from that things were very much pleasant. I was quite amazed that the movie shooting feature of this camera was so good b’coz all videos I shot with my previous cameras were disappointing. And not bad is the battery life either. In fact, I wud say it is very very good when fully recharged. Camera build is definitely a concern. Some of controls almost broke even when I did not exert any gr8 pressure on it. This is certainly not a sturdy camera and hence u will have to take some extra precautions while handling it.
