Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T7

Ultraslim and exceptionally stylish, Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T7 features a 5.1 megapixel sensor along with a 2.5-inch LCD, a Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens and 6x digital zoom.

The camera’s dimensions of 92 x 60 x 15 mm make it very small and weighing only 134 g even with the battery and a memory card inserted, carrying it along is not a problem at all.

A 2.5-inch LCD makes it presence felt and is excellent even under direct sunlight. But the absence of an optical viewfinder is a major shortcoming. With no viewfinder, the LCD eats up a lot of the battery power very quickly and leaves you fuming many a times.

The memory card and battery slots create trouble as you find it difficult to open them when the need arises.

Among the scene modes in T7, you will come across the Candle and Soft Snap (for soft focus), apart from the standard Landscape, Beach, Snow, High-Speed Shutter, and Fireworks options.

In Magnifying Glass mode, you can capture pictures from a closeness of 1cm. Equipped with a 3x optical zoom, the camera has a 38mm to 114mm (35mm-camera equivalent) range.

Using the Program mode, you are permitted to access exposure compensation; white-balance settings and three metering options.

For image enhancement, you can use the black-and-white and sepia colour effects.

While the ISO sensitivity can be set as automatic, you also have the option of manual adjustment up to a maximum of ISO 400.

Focus-mode features the spot, center, and multipoint autofocus.

In Burst mode, you can take nine full-resolution shots at 1.5 frames per second. However, even at very low resolution, it produced only an inadequate 15 shots.

T7 is compatible with file-size options and two compression settings.

With the help of a Memory Stick Duo Pro, you can capture high resolution (640x480) movie clips at a swift 30fps.

Start up time of T7 was impressive at 1.5 seconds while recycling between shots took 1.2 seconds (without flash).

Autofocus feature can be put to good use in dim lighting conditions but the same cannot be said about the built-in flash.

Coming to the image quality, it undoes all the positives mentioned above. Pictures look average at best and even the noise disturbance is not bearable. Also, fringing is evident in a few shots. Colour reproduction isn’t accurate either.

With no viewfinder and pathetic image quality, Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T7 is not a recommended camera.

Wonderful camera this SONY piece
I have always been a big fan of sony cameras. And have operated quite a few of them. Some which I owned and others my friends have. If I am not wrong, I purchased this camera on the insistence of my best friend some two months back and all I can say is thanx buddy. Using this camera has just been an awesome experience. Right from day one, the picture quality has been superb. I read some silly reviews some silly site which said the images looked incomprehensive and shady. Which camera were u talking abt man. I’ve never experienced anything of that sort till date. Yes there are a couple of negatives but very much bearable. Battery like is slightly short and the price 2 is on the higher side. But c’mon it’s worth spending on.
