Sony CyberShot DSC-F828
The Sony CyberShot DSC-F828 was announced by the company on August 15 and is an extension of the company's proprietary DSC-F717 design. However, the camera has undergone some very noticeable changes the best of which is the switch from the electronic zoom lens of the DSC-F717 to the mechanical zoom of the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens. This gives the users a wide array of options with which they can align their shots. With a 4 color Super HAD CCD that is accompanied by the 8-megapixel CCD, the DSC-F828 promises to give users a superior image setting. The 7x Optical zoom plus the 35x Smart zoom, and 14x Precision Digital zoom are more than enough for photo buffs to accurately compose their shots. The wide angle (28-200mm) rotating lens is another addition in this series and delivers sharp images.
The camera is pretty large for its segment and does not support the Adobe RGB color-space, something that will not go down well with the professionals. Though it has got the Speed Priority / Framing Priority as well as Auto Exposure Bracketing, the camera does not have custom settings. Perhaps Sony could look at this the next time. The RAW recording mode as mentioned is a tad slow, but the Advanced Accessory Shoe is a definite plus. Other great features happen to be the USB 2.0 High Speed Transfer and the PictBridge (USB direct print) compatibility. The MPEG VX Fine with Audio is also quite workable.
All-in-all the CyberShot DSC-F828 is ideal for those photo buffs who appreciate a good camera and want a big optical zoom range. It is also great for printing 11x14 prints and shooting VGA (640x480) video clips.
The Sony CyberShot DSC-F828 retails for £438.21*.

Much better than Nikon and Canon
I am a professional photographer and being so I am always on the lookout for the best camera around. And my Sony DSC-F828 has come very near to being the one. It has been any time better than my previous Nikons and Canons. The Carl Zeiss 28-200mm lens is absolutely superb. The camera is easy to use and takes excellent pictures. It comes with a very nice 8-megapixel CCD sensor. Movie can be shoot at 640 x 480 and are also of very good quality. My only gripe is the absence of interchangeable lenses and the slow shutter speeds. Otherwise, its the best camera I have owned till date.
