Samsung DIGIMAX A55W
Incorporating a 5-megpixel sensor and a 2.5-inch LCD screen, Samsung DIGIMAX A55W is rich in its zooming features with a combined zoom of 24x (5x digital zoom and 4.8x optical zoom). Moreover, you get 8X zoom during playback.
For enhanced shooting results, you can make use of the special effects feature offered by A55W. In Colour Effect, you can exploit different colour options like B/W, Sepia, Blue, Red, Green or Negative. Using highlight, you can put the spotlight on the desired element of an image. Photo Frame permits you to employ any of the nine fun photo frames. Finally, a Composite Shot feature allows users to capture 3-4 shots and then save them in one file.
A55W encompasses 10 scene modes (Night Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow) in an effort to improve the picture quality in various settings.
An Auto Macro feature automatically identifies the correct distance and focus for any setting, beginning from a minimum of 2cm.
You can also exploit the Continuous Shooting mode (for action pictures) and Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) - for images with faintly differing exposures.
Embedded are a few useful image editing features like trimming, resizing and rotating.
Shooting high resolution movie clips is enabled with A55W. Users can record VGA (640X480) clips at speeds of 30 frames per second. A movie stabilization function automatically recognizes and rectifies camera shakes. Another impressive feature of A55W is the facility to pause and recommence video recording as per your liking.
With a 25MB in-built memory, you can save images even without a memory card installed. There is a SD card/MMC slot, though, which is capable of holding up to 1 GB cards. You can transfer images from the internal to the external memory courtesy the Copy to Card function.
A55W also has the capabilities of a camcorder as it facilitates one hour video recording and a 10 second voice memo which can be added to a saved still image.
Using PictBridge in combination with USB 2.0, you can take top-class prints without connecting to a printer.
Still images can be saved in the JPEG (DCF), EXIF 2.2, DPOF 1.1 and PictBridge 1.0 format while the movies can be stored as AVI (MPEG4).
A55W can run on 2 x AA alkaline batteries, CR-V3 (Lithium) battery, 2 x Ni-MH and Samsung SBP-1303 (Lithium Ion).
With efficient features, ample of shooting modes and excellent zooming capacities, A55W keeps the high standards set by DIGIMAX in tact.

High quality camera
I’ve be using this Digimax A55W for close to six months now and it has been an excellent companion. Not being extra large in size means I can carry it anywhere. Also I luv 2 show it off b’coz it is so class in design. Picture quality can’t get much better than the ones shot with this camera. I’m an especially big fan of the auto macro mode. There are so many setting options present. That’s not all even the video shooting mode is high class. Memory features are disappointing. Other wise, it is a top camera.
