Samsung DIGIMAX A400
Samsung DIGIMAX A400 is a 4-megapixel camera with a 2.0-inch colour TFT LCD, 2.8x optical and 4x digital zoom.
With a trendy and graceful design, DIGIMAX A400 has dimensions of 109 x 56.5 x 34 mm and weighing 140g (minus battery and memory card), it is reasonably portable.
A400’s GUI (Graphical User Interface) guides you to all the camera features. There is a Mode dial which permits you to access the shooting modes. A 5-function button can be located at the back of the camera which is rather helpful. Also on the rear can be seen the exposure compensation, white balance, and ISO features. Using the colourful LCD, you can review the images properly prior to capturing them.
For better photographic result, you can capitalize on the five scene modes (Night, Portrait, Landscape, Text and Fireworks). Using the impressive Macro mode feature, you can take close-up shots from a 5cm distance. That’s not all; there are different flash settings, white balance options (Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent, Tungsten, and Custom) and ISO sensitivities ranging from 100 to 400, apart from Auto ISO.
Highly impressive is the fact that A400 can recognize English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Russian and many other languages.
Video recording features of A400 are also striking. Using this 4-megapixel camera, you can record VGA (640x480) resolution clips at an impressive 24 fps. The duration of the clips will vary depending upon the memory card you are using. The movies appear of excellent quality even when played on a TV screen.
A400 comes equipped with 16MB internal storage capacity which facilitates taking a decent amount of snaps even when you don’t have a memory card inserted. Additionally, the camera holds a SD/MMC card slot.
Believe it or not, A400 is compatible with nine different power sources (AA Alkaline, Lithium, Ni-Mn, Ni-Zn, CR?V3, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd, the Samsung I-Pack SBP-1303 and an AC adapter). So you don’t have to worry too much about running out of power.
A couple of other useful functions incorporated in A400 are the one hour voice recording feature and a 10 seconds voice message that you can add to a saved still image.
A circular reflector included is helpful in taking self-portraits. Also, you can use the double self-timer feature which takes snaps at intervals of 10 and 2 seconds.
In-built editing features of A400 comprise resolution changes, trimming, rotating etc.
Via the PictBridge technology and the USB cable, you can take prints by directing connecting to a compatible printer.
Another excellent Samsung offering.

good camera in the true sense
The Samsung Digimax A400 is a first-rate camera. I can say this without a blink of the eye. It produces excellent images thanks to some really efficient features present. The LCD is of two inches which means it helps in framing images in a big way. The 2.8x optical zoom might seem a bit small but it delivers reasonably high quality images. Movie shooting (24fps at 640 x 480) is also a very fruitful option. I captured some pretty naughty moments with it. The images captured are very good especially in daylight. There are a few disappointing aspects though. The battery life is not long enough b’coz the LCD eats up a lot of power. You’ll have 2 purchase rechargeable batteries. Flash features also cannot be termed as exceptional. When you have so many features, a 16Mb memory card is very small. Menu operations are rather simple. All in all a very good Samsung camera. If u like this review, I suggest u go get it.
