Samsung DIGIMAX 370
A point-and-shoot capability camera, DIGIMAX 370 encloses a 3.2-megapixel camera and a combined 12X zoom (3X optical, 4X digital).
Weighing a mere 0.32 pounds (minus the memory card and battery), it is lightweight and the dimensions 4.2 x 2.1 x 1.2 inches make it reasonably compact too. In addition, it features a vibrant and easy to use Graphic Interface.
Shooting modes of 370 comprise Auto, Manual, My Set, Scene, Night Scene and Portrait. In the Scene modes, you can utilize Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow Continuous.
Using the Super Macro mode feature, you can take close-up shots from a distance of 5cm. Multi and Spot metering modes of 370 can also be exploited.
Further, the White balance features include Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, custom etc.
Colour effects comprise Normal, B&W, Sepia and RGB.
370 encompasses a SHD Lens having a range between 5.8- 17.4mm (38-114mm 35mm equivalent).
In built editing features of the camera consist of trimming and resizing.
The 1.5 inch colour TFD LCD is a bit too small. With a minimum focal length of 38mm, it won’t be effective enough for landscape and architecture photography.
Flash features of DIGIMAX 370 include Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, Flash Off.
The maximum shutter speed of DIGIMAX 370 ranges between 16 seconds to 1/2000 second.
In Movie mode, you are permitted to take video clips at two resolutions (640x480 at 30 fps) and (320x240 at 15 fps). Voice recording can last for a maximum duration of 60 minutes whereas users can also record voice memo to be included in still images for a length of 10 seconds.
For storage purposes, you can bank on the Secure Digital (SD) memory cards or Memory Stick Duo. 370 comes with a 32 MB SD card while you can also purchase high storage capacity cards.
Among the softwares shipped with 370 are Storage Driver, Digimax Viewer and ArcSoft PhotoImpression.
For image transfers, you are provided with USB 1.1.
Printing can be done by connecting to PictBridge. Maximum print size at which images will be of good quality is 5x7.
DIGIMAX 370 can run on different power sources. Apart from the standard AA batteries, you can also have the option of using CR-V3 (Lithium), I-Pack (SBP-1103) or an AC adapter.
The 1.5 inch LCD screen may be disappointing. But with decent picture quality and a good number shooting options, enough for a point-and-shoot camera, DIGIMAX 370 is a good common man’s camera.
