Samsung L55W
Strengthening its hold further into the compact camera market, Samsung has zoomed in with its new L55W that features an exclusive 4.8X optical zoom with a focal length of 28mm-135mm, i.e. 35mm equivalent.
A zoom quite high in relation to regular digital cameras that usually have 3X optical zoom, the 28mm wide-angle lens of the L55W offers the photographer a much more expansive view in comparison to a general camera, and gives you a chance to click wide panoramic views. You can also encompass a set of items within a single frame. This model is exquisite in its capability to back the 28mm wide-angle lens as well as the 4.8X optical zoom, which present the photographer with increased alternatives and choices.
Another attribute that is exceptional in the Samsung L55W is its 2.8" wide LCD screen that looks luxuriously large and wide. Employing the TMR technology, i.e. the Transmissive with Micro Reflective technology, the camera is able to balance and monitor light even in very bright atmospheric conditions.
Furthermore, with a lessened time lag and quicker response, it is possible with the Digimax L55W to snap life’s memorable moments spontaneously. What’s appreciable about this camera in addition to a higher zoom and larger screen is its slim and trim build along with its refined metallic finish that lend it its sophistication and élan.
Well, its positive feature list is still not over. The Digimax L55W is equipped to provide you a great movie experience as it utilises the MPEG-4, which is a high-compression and high-quality video format and is able to record about 3-4 times more than usual video formats. If you’re using a 256MB memory card, the L55W will be able to record longer than an hour of superior quality video.

I love mine!
It's everything they say. I love the big, wide screen, 2.8 wide angle and 4.8 zoom. Also picked up a 1 Mb, Ultra II SD card for $90.
The only negative, so far, is the proprietary battery as I haven't been able to find a second one.

Wow, this is a good one
I always wanted a camera with which I could get landscape snaps using a zoom. This one has got it. It has a 4.8x wide angle optical zoom at 5 Megapixels. It is stylish and compact. The images are great. it also has a movie mode with sound. However, it only has a 24Mb internal memory. Get it enhanced to a 128 or 256Mb card.
