Nikon 5400
Following on the footsteps of the Nikon Coolpix 5000 as regards to design, the Coolpix 5400 has retained its predecessor’s pattern and its exclusive wide-angle zoom lens, albeit with a few improvements. It has a 4x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with an advanced 4x optical zoom, thereby enabling a high zoom capability of 16x. Having a focal length range of 5.8 mm to 24mm, its 4x digital zoom is equal to a 28-116mm lens on a 35mm camera.
The Coolpix 5400 is a 5.1 megapixel camera with a capacity of 2592 x 1944-pixel resolution that is able to give you copies of size 16" x 20". With dimensions of 108 x 73 x 69 mm and weight of 380 g, the Coolpix 5400 has a unique attribute, the Best Shot Selector (BSS) feature along with other characteristics that add to its versatility.
The BSS trait selects five successive shots and saves them after evaluating them according to factors preset for selection. Another feature, namely the Auto Exposure Best Shot Selector attribute compares the quality and intensity of tones of the five snaps taken successively.
Subsequently, the rest of the pictures are rejected to empty the unnecessarily jammed storehouse. These modes operate because of the Coolpix 5400’s 64 MB buffer, which is able to amass various shots instead of handing them over to the much sluggish CompactFlash card.
Furthermore, it has an integral 7-mode flash that shoots up to 3 fps when using its maximum resolution of 2,592 x 1,944-pixels. Besides, one can utilise its 15 scene modes, which adjust the settings of the camera according to the environment outside and the amount of exposure needed. Unleash your creativity by selecting the Flexible Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or Full Manual settings.
You can also pick a focus spot from the camera’s multi-autofocus network. This Coolpix has paid enough attention to ergonomics in its fresh Mode Dial, Command Dial as well as the middle click Multi-Selector button.
The 5400 impresses one in its quick activation, lessened shutter release time as well as its quick processing of pictures.

Bad… worse…worst
I have been using this camera only for a small while but already want to get rid of it ASAP. It looks pretty good from the outside but don’t get fooled by it. The camera really has nothing much to offer. When I tried clicking some of favourite pictures early in the morning some irritating signal kept flashing time and again. Then again, the pictures that I did manage to capture weren’t gr8. Focusing feature of this camera is bad to be brutally honest. And with no AF illuminator, don’t even dream of getting nice images in dim light. It will only end up being a nightmare. In spite of reading this review if u still plan 2 get it, then I wud gratefully handle it over 2 u at a cheap price.
