Nikon D100
Nikon D100 is a digital SLR with a 6.1 megapixel sensor, plenty of exposure choices and an ISO range between 200-1600.
Reasonably small and lightweight, the overall build quality of D100 is excellent and feels very comfortable in the hand.
Menu arrangement of D100 is very user friendly and can be controlled via the four way controller flanking the LCD. Importantly, it is speedy and responsive apart from integrating a plethora of functions like the Playback menu, shooting menu and custom menu. Each of these incorporates many useful tasks which will enhance your camera operations.
There are plenty of camera modes to be explored. The settings can be changed using the dial on the left of the camera. Try out the Auto multi program, Shutter-Priority Auto, Aperture-Priority Auto and Manual modes. Further, you can utilize the ISO, White balance, Image quality and AF-area options.
D100 is compliant with shooting in single frame, continuous and self-timer modes. Using the JPG format in the continuous mode you can keep six frames in the buffer and four working with RAW files. Using noise reduction, you get three in JPG and two in RAW format. The number of frames per second is approximately 2.5fps.
The 1.8 inch LCD is provided with a plastic cover which protects its surface. The viewfinder quality is below par but it is not worthless. It features a diopter adjustment and an optional grid which can be superimposed via the menu system.
Connectivity options include the USB 1.1 apart from the customary features.
Coming to the results delivered in regards to the picture quality, it was above average for most images with the exception of a few.
While the output was expectantly good in bright light, even in dark environments, the AF-assist lamp maintained the picture quality.
D100’s ISO range between 200-1600 is exceptional with noise disturbance pretty moderate.
Performance of the camera is relatively speedy. The start up time is almost negligible and the shutting down also doesn’t take a lot of time. One of the disappointing aspects is the slow writing speeds of the RAW files.
Running on a rechargeable Li-ion battery, D100 performed notably well. When fully charged, the battery is capable of taking more than 1,500 shots.
This camera has some excellent features and produces good image quality. But courtesy the extremely user friendly menu system, it should cater equally to both the pros and novices.

Absolutely marvellous
I purchased this camera and by god it’s just brilliant in the true sense. The image quality is good enough to satisfy me. Pictures are satisfactory in both bright and dim light. Menu arrangement is very simple and I did not have any trouble navigating it. There are quite a number of useful shooting options. The 1.8-inch LCD is good but I feel it definitely should have been slightly bigger. Battery performance also doesn’t disappoint. Really did not find any negatives. Highly recommended by me.
