Nikon Coolpix 5700
With an 8X optical zoom, and many comprehensive features, the Nokia Coolpix 5700 delivers excellent pictures with minimal noise disturbance.
5700 is encompassed in a magnesium alloy body which gives it a rock-solid feel and the curved grips makes holding the camera reasonably cosy.
Initially you might feel it is rather easy to use after clicking a few photographs in the default automode. But you will have to carefully read the user manual to make optimum use of the features. Hence this camera is not recommended for beginners due to its extensive and complicated feature set which can’t be easily comprehended by greenhorns. But for a professional photographer, this might be almost the perfect one after he/she has grasped how to tackle this suave camera.
Placement of controls is efficient. In fact, oft used features can be accessed through the controls on the camera thus preventing you from visiting the menus to make the changes. Since there are many menus, initially you might have some difficulty in locating them. But once used to it, you shouldn’t have a problem.
Among the important features of Coolpix 5700 is the 8X zoom lens, which has got an impressive focal length range between 35mm to 205mm (35mm camera equivalent) and a maximum aperture of 2.8.
There are plenty of shooting options present in 5700. You will also come across exposure, metering, white-balance, and autofocus modes. In addition, you can use the in-camera effects for image sharpening, contrast and also reducing the noise in images.
The LCD performs well while the EVF has an impressive 97 percent coverage.
Using Coolpix 5700, you get good results in both auto and manual modes under most conditions with picture quality reasonably good.
Noise disturbance in most ISO ranges was near negligible.
In macro it is possible to shoot from as close as 1.2 inches with proper results.
Decent video capturing is also possible at 320x240 resolution.
The RAW mode incorporated allows you can save around seven files on a 64MB memory card. There are six image size options and three compression modes which give the users variety of choices.
Performance wise, the autofocus mode disappoints not giving out the desired results. The RAW files come in handy but writing images on to the media card will need some patience as it takes around 13 to 14 seconds per image.
Despite the fact that the camera produces excellent results in most conditions, the overly intricate features will only make the experienced photographers happy.

Bad autofocus feature and terrible build quality
I’ve owned this camera for over a year and despite the fact that it delivers excellent images, I still won’t recommend it. Puzzled??? Let me explain. This camera is full of rocking features. There is an 8x optical zoom. Styling is really nice. Controls can be easily accessed and the focal length of 35mm to 205mm is also pretty good. Seems all rosy till here. But now for the disappointing part. The autofocusing feature is terrible. And so the pictures taken in dimlight looked really terrible. Since I shoot most of my pictures in tricky conditions, I definitely needed a better focussing feature. I even found that the build quality was after it stopped functioning properly even after I put it down only once. Now you make a choice. ALL D BEST.
