Canon Powershot A620

Like PowerShot A610, A620 is also advancement to A95 featuring a 7.1 megapixel sensor, a 4X optical zoom and a DIGIC II processor with the styling very similar to A95.

The DIGIC II processor is responsible for speedy functioning of the camera and it also combines with the 4x optical zoom lens to enhance the picture quality. With a near non-existent shutter lag of 0.1 seconds, the shooting rate of 1.9 fps is quite impressive.

The 4x optical zoom offers a 35–140 mm focal length (35 mm equivalent) and the maximum aperture range of f/2.8 (W) to f/4.1 (T). Improvements while shooting in dark conditions are also evident in A620.

A620’s 9-point AiAF is mainly utilised for getting off-centre components of an image in the correct focus. Also, with the FlexiZone AF/AE you manually pick subjects that you wish to focus.

With a bigger and better 2.0” vari-angle LCD, taking snaps from odd angles like waist or overhead is facilitated. The grid line display also comes in handy for selecting the total desired area of an image.

You can make optimum use of the 20 shooting modes which are inclusive of full Manual mode, a Custom mode where you decide the required shooting settings, and a shutter speed priority mode, where the shutter speeds are between 15 seconds to 1/2500 second.

Among the scene modes you will find Night Snapshot, Snow, Underwater etc. Then, in the Stitch Assist mode you can capture panoramas and fix them together later via the PhotoStitch software provided.

In My Colors mode you can take full liberties for getting your desired results with the help of many innovative colour modifications.

Finally, the macro mode in which you can take snaps from a minor distance of 1 cm.

Prints up to A3 size look comprehensive. The cropping facility also works well without deteriorating the picture quality. Taking prints without connecting to a PC is possible through the Print/Share button. USB 2.0 takes care of image transferring if need be.

Videos can be shot at VGA resolution with a standard speed of 30 fps or a quicker 60fps (QVGA) rate for slow motion playback. Moreover, there is also a Compact mode that facilitates emailing videos.

Useful softwares included with A620 are ZoomBrowser EX 5.5, ImageBrowser 5.5, PhotoRecord 2.2 etc.

The CANON iMAGE GATEWAY provided permits you to occupy 100MB of space online space.

As with the A610, Canon PowerShot A620 also seems like reasonably suitable replacement for A95.

Like PowerShot A610, A620 is also advancement to A95 featuring a 7.1 megapixel sensor, a 4X optical zoom and a DIGIC II processor with the styling very similar to A95.

I like it and u will 2
I won't say that this camera is exceptional, it rocks, blah blah blah. But what I can assure u of is if u r a keen student of photography, this will not disappoint u. The camera includes most of the essential features and each one of them performs their task well. LCD of this camera is helpful in composing shots properly. Also there are many manual choices and shooting options. Scene modes too come in handy in varied shooting environments. Like many camera buffs, I too am a big fan of the My Colours feature as it gives me liberty to expand my creative horizons. And finally, there are a couple of good movie options. Pictures look detailed and comprehensive in most cases. Its just a plain simple good camera which delivers good ootput according to the features present in it. That's it.
