Canon Digital Ixus i5
The Canon Digital IXUS i5 is an impressive 5-megapixel camera with a condensed body and capability to produce excellent image quality.
Styling of this camera is gorgeous with the sleek looks being the most attention grabbing feature of the design.
Having dimensions of 90 x 47 x 19 mm, it can be safely assumed that it will settle into your pocket nicely. Even with the battery and available SD card inserted, the weight of Canon Digital IXUS i5 remains extremely light at 140 g. And if you still feel is not portable enough, just suspend it down your neck via the supporting device provided.
For Canon loyalists, navigating the menu interface of IXUS i5 will be a breeze courtesy the identical menu navigation found in many other Canon’s.
Setting wise, there are a number of useful scene modes, prominent among them are the Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Indoor and Underwater.
Don’t forget to make optimum use of the 9-point auto focus AiAF system which performs rather well.
As mentioned in the introduction, this Canon offering falls in the category of 5-megapixel cameras. Incorporating a 6.5x digital zoom, the quality of images shot from this compact digital camera was first-rate. The pictures taken appear radiant with accurate colour reproduction. The 5MP sensor facilitates the zooming feature and enables you to take prints of the size of 6in x 4in, maximum up to 10in x 8in.
Unfortunately, IXUS i5 lacks the efficient optical zoom function; as a result you might not get the perfect view of an image to be shot at times. However, thanks to its excellent resolution, you can edit the unimpressive features of such images on your PC or Mac.
The presence of an on board crop feature would have done no harm for the ones who only want to print and finish off the job. The situation is not all that bad though as nearly all printers integrating a direct memory card access and a LCD can perform this function easily.
Apart from the optical zoom, the absence of an optical viewfinder is jarring. That’s not all; the LCD viewfinder incorporated is too tiny to be made proper use of at 1.5 inches.
Video capabilities inclusive of sound are average with a maximum of three minutes or 40 in case of a high resolution VGA.
Considering all the valid features of IXUS i5, it can be termed as an excellent click and shoot camera with superior image quality and chic styling to boot.

This camera’s got both style & substance
I’ve seen many cameras in the past which look gr8 from the outside but don’t quite perform well or it’s vice versa. Thankfully, IXUS i5 does not fall into this category. Its very very trendy. And now lets get to the features. The 5-megapixel isn’t a bad feature. The size is small enough to sit into ur pocket. U have the AF system, many many shooting modes, good zoom features. Do try out the different scene modes. Only shortcomings are that optical zoom and viewfinder are missing. This is certainly among the chosen few having both style and excellent features.
