Canon IXUS 55
In a truly ‘star’-tling design, Canon has arrived with the IXUS 55, which presents an exclusive ‘starburst’ pattern emanating out of the ring of the lens. Makers of the digital IXUS 55 have gone a few steps ahead in advancing the characteristic box and circle design, and have incorporated a resplendent ring surrounding the lens to produce a striking starburst effect.
Following on the footsteps of Canon’s digital IXUS cameras, this one too is built fashionably, this time in an elegant and elite silver-white colour with an exemplary set of features and functions. Employing the DIGIC II technology for fast processing of images, this 5.0 megapixel camera has a conspicuously large 2.5” LCD and a 3x optical zoom.
A substantial LCD like this is more than just ideal for effortless viewing of photos and shots as well as image sharing at the time of playback. One can very simply compose shots and go through the menu with this big a LCD that can be adjusted to 15 levels of brightness.
Meanwhile, the IXUS 55’s lens has two Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical (UA) elements in its construction to produce sharp vivacious images of natural colour. A myriad variety of photographic modes are present here, including Auto, Manual, Portrait, Landscape, Night modes, or for that matter, even an underwater mode wherein adventurous photographers can optimally use the All Weather Case or AW-DC50 and easily capture rapturous underwater scenes.
Special effects offered by the IXUS 55 comprise of the colour swap option where one can exchange or swap colours as per one’s choice. Similarly, VGA movies can also be filmed continuously for 60 minutes, i.e. until the 1 GB file space is exhausted.

classy looking camera
This camera not only looks cool even performs exceedingly well. But you just cannot take ur eyes of the impressive styling. It has got what Canon calls the Starbust effect which is excellent. I particularly admire the colour swap option where you can interchange colours. The 2.5-inch LCD looks clear even under the sun and the 3x optical zoom lens plays a big role in providing very good image quality. Wud say this is a truly world class camera
