Samsung V200

Yet another clamshell offering from Samsung, V200 comes equipped with a dual display and a swivelling digital camera.

The internal TFD display of the phone holds an impressive, 65,000 colour with resolution of 128 x 160 pixels with great clarity in most conditions. You can use animated wallpaper to brighten up internal screen further.

With a blue backlighting, the external monochrome display churns out helpful data like time, date, battery status, signal strength. While it also alerts you about incoming SMS’s, the caller ID displays the contact details of all incoming calls.

Samsung V200 comes with an integrated digital camera that can click snaps at resolutions of up to 352 x 288 pixels; not as good as general camera phones that are capable of taking pictures at resolutions up to 640x480 pixels. But V200’s specialty lies in its 180 degree swivelling feature. This function is extremely useful for taking self-portraits. It is much easier to use than having a mirror found in most other cameras. The self-timer feature is not a rarity among cameras in general. But its presence in a mobile camera can only welcomed with both hands.

That apart, you can save 100 images in the picture manager. Not least of all, there are setting modifications and a digital zoom feature.

V200 incorporates 40-voice polyphonic ringtones which are pulsating and will surely be great music for your ears.

Messaging is enhanced thanks to the presence of SMS (with concatenation support), MMS and EMS. But it is still not possible to add new words in the T9 (predictive text) dictionary.

You can activate a feature wherein a melody plays every time you open or close the flip.

The triband capabilities of Samsung V200 will be of utmost importance to people who are always shifting from one country to another.

Presence of the WAP over GPRS facilitates high speed internet access.

For connectivity purposes, Bluetooth functionality is not present. So you’ll have to be content with the infra-red modem & USB connection.

Among the PIM features you’ll find the calendar, calculator, to do and currency converter while the phonebook can store up to 500 names with multiple phone numbers for one contact.

On general use, the 900 mAh battery delivers 4 hours talk time and 5 days on standby.

Keeping the absence of Bluetooth aside, the V200 impresses a lot with so many efficient features.

Very Very impressive
The only negative feature I found in V200 was the absence of Bluetooth. Otherwise it has hardly caused me any trouble in the past few days I've been using it. The high resolution internal screen is really bright and the wallpapers are too cute. Polyphonic ringtones are superb and the messaging features are much better than on some other Samsungs. Battery too runs long enough when you consider the cell has so many good features. It's an impressive cell phone from Samsung no doubt.
