Samsung S100

Samsung S100 is an attractive flip phone with dimensions of 81 x 41 x 22 mm. Weighing 92 g; it is slightly on the heavier side.

Internal display of S100 is impressive. It has a 65,000 colour LCD STN screen with dimensions of 128 x 160 pixels. The images on the screen are of excellent quality even in bright sunlight. But the external LCD also provides valuable information relating to time, date, battery status and signal strength. In addition, you can also view the caller’s ID, missed calls and received messages.

Keypad designing is very much comfy. You will find two rubber coverings which protect banging of the top flip against the lower portion of the phone.

S100 facilitates sending long SMS messages. But there might be a slight lag evident while typing very long messages. The EMS feature present permits cell users to send images and animation together with the general text.

Being triband compatible (GSM 900/1800/1900), it will be extremely helpful for the corporates who are constantly on the move.

Connectivity features haven’t traditionally been Samsung’s forte. As so the IR support and data cable as also the infrared features provided comes as a huge sigh of relief.

The WAP over GPRS facilitates speedy internet surfing.

Then, there are also the 16-voice polyphonic ringtones. S 100 also facilitates saving new ringtones received in a message, or by uploading from a PC.

S100 also gives you the ability to download Java games and other Java based applications.

Among the standard organizer features you will find calendar, to-do list, calculator, currency exchange, world time and many others.

You can use the auto power and auto backlight features to save some battery.

Unlike some previous Samsung models, the battery life of S100 is not dissatisfactory. Standard battery ran for 2 days while the extended battery was active for a day longer.

Though S100 has impressive features overall, there are still a few that need to be eradicated. The absence of voice calling and voice dialling feature is not acceptable. Also there is no vibrating alert for incoming messages when the phone is on silent mode.

All said and done, with a 65 k colour internal display, triband compatibility and slick designing, Samsung S100 is undoubtedly worth considering.

Samsung S100 is an attractive flip phone with dimensions of 81 x 41 x 22 mm. Weighing 92 g; it is slightly on the heavier side.

A mediocre Samsung phone
S100 is a decent cell phone as I can describe it. I’ve used it often enough to know that. The internal screen is mediocre and not good enough to be viewed well in bright lighting conditions. I also feel the look of the phone is a bit old fashioned. Ringtones in S100 are nothing more than average and if you keep the phone in deep pockets, you are even likely to miss calls. Being triband it is of good use to people like me who are constantly travelling. Even the battery life is better than that on many other Samsung cells. It is also not easy to download the Java games. And the phone gets scratched so easily. I have so many marks on it that people feel it is the designing of the phone.
