Samsung C100

Unlike many Samsung models, C100 is devoid of the clamshell design and an external aerial. On the contrary, with a candy bar like structure, it is reminiscent of a Nokia handset. The styling too is graceful with a beautiful metallic silver finishing.

The 65,000-color dazzling UFB screen of 128 x 128 pixels gives good clarity. You can also pep up the screen with 3Dscreensavers. One gripe with the otherwise efficient display has to be the size which is just too small to capture all available features in full magnificence.

User interface is generally very easy apart from a few minor hiccups here and there. While the keypad layout is spacious, thankfully the keys are not deep seated and as a result, operating the keys is faster and easier than many handsets.

C 100’s phone is capable of storing up to 1000 contacts. Among its organizer features are an alarm clock, To do, calendar, calculator and currency converter.

Polyphonic ringtones are sure to make you drool as the clarity is exceptional even at peak volume. However, out of the 40-vice polyphonic ringtones, some of the animal noises are likely to be big irritants for many. But on a positive note, the facility to compose ringtones is provided to you. A strict warning for those you depend a lot on the vibrator facility. C100’s vibration is too weak and you might miss out on important calls especially if you are covered in thick clothing.

Messaging is a big letdown in C100. Firstly, you are likely experience slight lag when typing messages. But more awkward and uncomfortable is shifting between T9, multi-tap, symbols and numerals which takes just too many key procedures for a layman’s comfort. As a result messaging is highly erratic. And to add to your woes, MMS feature has been ignored.

There are four embedded games but none really can be termed as an exciting adventure. So it won’t be a bad idea to download some better ones.

Connectivity technology is present in the form of GPRS, infrared and cable which work rather well.

The dimensions of 111 x 46 x 17mm and weight of a mere 76 g shouldn’t be a cause for concern.

C100 does have excellent reception and the same thing can be said about the voice quality. The Lithium-polymer battery disappoints though with only 150 minutes of talktime and standby period of 90 hrs.

The bottom-line remains that Samsung C100 will only cater to those who want the crucial standard functions and can stay without the advanced ones like MMS, Bluetooth and camera.

Unlike many Samsung models, C100 is devoid of the clamshell design and an external aerial. On the contrary, with a candy bar like structure, it is reminiscent of a Nokia handset. The styling too is graceful with a beautiful metallic silver finishing.

Just an ordinary cell phone
I don’t personally own this phone but one of my friends does and I often keep fiddling with it. And while it’s a good phone, there’s nothing really special about it. Design is ok and thankfully, it is not very heavy too. I did not like the LCD at all. It is too miniature to be of any use. Rest, polyphonic ringtones are good, voice quality is gr8 but messaging is a hell of a job. Operating the phone is mainly easy b’coz of the nice interface, but lacks Bluetooth which is my favourite option. And if you are like me, this phone is definitely not for you.
