Samsung E720
A stylish 3G clamshell from Samsung, E720 incorporates an array of much sought after features like the megapixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. And as an icing on the cake, you get all this at acceptable dimensions of 90x45x23mm. Most impressively, it has a rather miniscule weight of 90g, making it an easily portable handset even more so because it houses an internal antenna.
Styling of E720 is attractive with the black and silvery finish lending a great deal of solidity to the phone.
The external display is an OLED screen supporting 65k colours with a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels. This display gives you the standard time and network information. Internally is placed the high-quality, luminous 262 colour TFT display having 176 x 220 pixel resolution.
Keypad layout is synonymous to the Samsung design and as such is pretty and is trouble-free. Navigating through the menus can get a bit wearisome at times as there are too many sub-menus owning to the plethora of features installed. To Samsung’s credit, most of the key functions can be located with a single pressing of buttons.
E720 has an MP3 player which is very much compatible with AAC and AAC+ formats and can be operated without opening the clam via a music button located externally.
Staying with melody, this Samsung clamshell presents you with a choice of 64-voice polyphonic ringtones apart from recognizing MP3 ringtones.
For pastime, try out the embedded games. And as always you have the facility to download more Java games.
Wireless data transfer is possible courtesy Bluetooth and the USB port.
The megapixel camera is impressive with a resolution of 1152 x 864 pixels and so is the video recorder which gives you the provision to record up to one hour with its resolution of 352 x 288 pixels.
The total memory space of 88.5 MB is significant. Of this 80 MB is reserved for pictures, music and video, 4 MB for Java enabled applications, 3 MB for e-mail and the remaining 1.5 for messaging purposes. Unfortunately there is no expansion slot which could have been a useful inclusion considering the number of advanced features incorporated in the small phone.
Another major drawback of E720 is the poor voice quality and further the absence of the speakerphone is an eminently recognizable blemish of the E720.
Keeping the above mentioned slip-ups aside, E720 is certainly among the better clamshells delivered from Samsung.

Sound quality is awful
Using the Samsung E720 has only given me mixed vibes. For me, the phone doesn’t look all that trendy as some people do. Anyways, the camera features are really nice and so is the video recording feature. Thankfully, unlike the menus on some phone, this doesn’t leave you exasperated as it is quite understandable for the average person. But isn’t the basic function of a phone supposedly receiving and making calls. Yup here is where E720 falls flat. Sound quality is yuck… horrible to say the least. If you are more inclined towards messaging and other hi-fi features in a phone, you might not bother too much. But if you are conscious abt the basic fone features, plz, plz , plz staya away from this.
