Samsung E800

Samsung E800 is a sliding phone with a 65K-colour screen and an integrated camera fit into a relatively small handset having dimensions of 87 x 45 x 24 mm and weighing a reasonable 85 g.

Designing of E800 is highly attractive. Looking very sturdy and thankfully having an internal antenna, the sliding function works nicely. The slider opens when you push the lower part of the phone upwards. To add spice to your mobile experience, there are ample of short slider tones like bubbling water, chirping birds and perky crickets et al. If you are not too overwhelmed by the effects, you can always switch it off.

Coming to the display, E800 reveals a 65, 536 colour TFT screen with choices of having animated wallpaper or other images on it.

Keypad is very roomy with ample spacing between the buttons which means chances of hitting the wrong buttons are miniscule. When the slider is not opened, you can use the two soft keys, four-way navigation button, WAP key and some others. To patronize the numerical keypad you have to push the slider upwards.

The integrated VGA camera also can be utilized after the slider is opened. A rounded mirror alongside the camera is helpful in taking self-portraits and there is also a flash which is supposed to be utilized in gloomy environs. However, the flash quality is pretty ordinary. The general camera effects consist of B&W, sepia, emboss and sketch. Apart from permitting adding frames to your shots, you are provided with an option of selecting any one of seven electronic sounds which are audible while taking snaps.

E800 incorporates the standard organizer features like calendar, to do list, alarm clock, calculator, currency converter etc.

Then, there is also the Fun Box feature which comprises of games like SnowBallFight and BubbleSmile. The media box has the capacity to pile up pictures and sounds.

Melody wise, you can find 64-chord polyphonic ring tones most of which are fantastic. Of these there 40 predetermined tones incoming calls and 10 for messages. This means swapping ringtones for calls and messages is not possible.

While there are many valuable functions, absence of Bluetooth and MP3 player can prove to be a major setback for E800.

The battery of E800 is likely to give you 2.5 hours of talktime and 160 hours of standby time.

Despite lacking some of the technological advancements, E800 fares well with regards to the performance of most of its features.

What the hell is this???
I purchased this camera sometime last year and only have been regretting it since then. It is just too troublesome. The menu system is not at all easy to use. You have to keep searching and searching for functions until you are lucky enough to find them. The infrared is only for namesake, it hardly works. I put it down once and ever since, it’s been working even more badly. Probably the only good thing about the cell is its camera. And it doesn’t look all that bad too. But overall, it’s a helluva bad fone.
