Sony Ericsson T200

Sony Ericsson’s T200 is very much an entry level phone with a greyscale display, minus many of the new generation functions like Bluetooth connectivity and digital camera.

A triband, T200 has reasonably comfortable dimensions of 105 x 49 x 21 mm and weight of 85g.

The design is T200 is unfortunately too dull to attract too much attention. The blue back light looks good but does not enhance the readability by much which anyways isn’t the greatest. Keypad arrangement is fine with comfortable spacing between the keys and the four way navigation stick helps in making the user interface rather easy.

Though many of the much sought after features are absent, there are a few useful ones too. The Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) adds the fun element to messaging as you can send images and animation clips along with the message.

A digital camera might not be present. But CommuniCam from Sony-Ericsson can be used as a good substitute. Snaps taken via the CommuniCam can be saved as wallpapers on your phone or can be forwarded as an e-mail.

Presence of the Picture phonebook facility means you can store the contacts’ photographs along with his number. The respective photo will pop up whenever the contact calls you from the corresponding number.

The phone has WAP 1.2.1 and internet facility is pretty much enhanced with speeds as fast as 43.2 kbps. A shortcut key allows you direct access to the web from where you will surely love to download ringtones and other stuff. While on the topic of ringtones, you’ll be pleased to know that T200 facilitates composing original tones thanks to the ringtone composer.

There are five games installed which is good fun. SMS counter function allows you to keep a tab on the number of messages you’ve sent while triband capability is a must for frequent travellers, especially businessmen.

Not neglected are the general yet efficient features like SMS templates, predictive text input, stop watch, timer etc.

Apart from voice dialling and mobile chat, you have the facility to copy all the contents of a SIM card to another SIM via the SIM copy function. The different profiles present can always be modified to suit one’s needs.

Considering the fact that it is just an entry level phone, most of the features are pretty good. But only those who aren’t too engrossed with the latest inventions in mobile technology are likely to go for T200.

Sony Ericsson’s T200 is very much an entry level phone with a greyscale display, minus many of the new generation functions like Bluetooth connectivity and digital camera.

Keep it simple with T200
If you are a new age mobile user running behind trendy devices turn away. But doesn’t mean T200 doesn’t have its bunch of customers. There are people like me who believe in the ‘keep it simple’ policy. Yes that’s what T200 is- a simple phone. It has decent dimensions and is light enough. All the basic functions are present and they perform well. At times some functions respond very slowly though. But it has a very good reception and equally easy user interface. If only the battery could run for a longer duration? Otherwise all the standard functions are effective.
