Sony Ericsson P900
A successor to P800, Sony Ericsson P900 is a smartphone with enhanced functions in the form of a video recorder and superior colour display among others.
Also, the dimensions of P900 are smaller than that of its predecessor at 117х57х27 mm. Weighing a reasonable 130 g, more than 25 g below P800; you can easily deposit the smartphone in a jacket pocket.
The styling of the phone can be termed as austere as it has the amalgamation of black and dark silver colours. Such a stark look gives one the impression of a corporate mobile distinct from P800 which had a rather playful design.
Display of P900 is vastly improved giving users the option of 65,536 colours with an impressive 208 x 320 pixel resolution though you might face some difficulty when reading in bright sunshine.
As the keypad can be detached from the screen as in the previous handset, the display looks entrenched when the keypad is placed. In closed mode, the image on the screen automatically changes to complement the smaller resolution of 208х208 pixels. Speaking of the keypad, all the buttons are chrome-plated and distinctly placed increasing utility of the keypad.
P900 is available with an ingrained digital VGA-camera with a 640 x 480 pixel resolution. The image quality of P900 has definitely improved from its predecessor thanks to the superior lens quality. The camera also holds a mirror which facilitates taking a self-portrait.
Memory of 16 MB coupled with the external 32 MB memory stick is certainly impressive.
Among the impressive PDA-type features of P900 are the email manager function compatible with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. Further, it is capable of recognizing content from Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
You will also find the expected functions like you the polyphonic ringtones and games. Downloading ringtones is not novel. But even so, P900 gives you the facility to download polyphonic & mono ringtones. It is the same with the games. While there are pre-installed Java games, you can always add on.
Operating on the Symbian system, data transfer is possible courtesy Bluetooth, infrared & USB.
For frequent travelers, there is a special "Flight mode" which can be used aboard a flight.
That’s not all; surfing is possible through the built-in web browser with speeds running up to 28.8 kbps. It also comes with an MP3 audio & video (MPEG4) player. The speakerphone is also superior compared to P800.
P 900’s BST-15 battery provides users 480 hours of standby and 16 hours of talktime.
With so many PDA type and multimedia features, this triband compatible phone is a good option for the techno freaks.

Attractive and effective
This is undoubtedly my pet phone. I used to have the P800 before and wasn’t very disappointed. So I did not have many hassles about purchasing the P900. And two months later, I’m not regretting it in anyway. The design of this phone is really attractive. But I love using the camera more than anything else. The screen also delivers good results. But the battery life could definitely have been better. Bluetooth works gr8. Can’t really complain too much.
