Sony Ericsson T290i
At first glance and use you are likely to ask if this phone is actually the T230 model from SE; because both are so similar. The main difference, and not a great one at that, is the inclusion of a speakerphone in the T290i. (As if adding a speaker phone meant upgrading the handset) Nevertheless we decided to give it a fair trial and checked out the features.
It shares many common features with its predecessors: Multimedia messaging (MMS) client, SMS with predictive text, email functions and a 32-chord polyphonic ringer. There is also a picture phonebook but one wonders why this was included as the system does not have an infrared support. How is someone expected to load images and ringtones?
Like the T230 this dual-band handset features a 101 x 80pixel, 4k colour screen, a standard size screen. Having seen some of the more recent models from rivals Nokia, Motorola one does wish the screen were larger.
This model is shipped with a Desk Speaker Stand - CSS 25 – (it has a built-in microphone and speaker) so while you charge your phone you can also answer calls. This DS stand has two plugs that give you two choices for a private conversation – one is for the SE portable Handsfree HPS-20 (also shipped with the product) and the other for a professional headset with a 2.5mm connector. Another plus of this feature is as a synchronizer: you can sync the address and calendar functions of both your phone and your PC/laptop keeping both up-to-date. This Stand can also run on batteries.
On the downside, the O/S is noticeably slow which means the menu responds slower. This can prove to be an obstacle when keying in text messages.
Overall, considering its price range, this handset can be regarded as a fairly priced, even cheap, mobile phone.

Average fone
This fone was recommended to me by one of my best friends so I never thought it wud end up being such a raw deal. While our friendly relations haven’t been affected, he too feels very bad for asking me to but such a pathetic phone. The designing is the only feature of the fone that attracts me. Otherwise, even while there are a number of features present, I did not like the performance of the phone at all. It keeps freezing time and again. And it’s my utter bad luck that this happens every time I do something very urgent. Even doing something basic like sending a text message is a torturous.

Same as T230
I use the Sony Ericsson T230 model but one of my friends purchased the T290i sometime back. And poor guy I really pity him. There are hardly any differences between mine and his mobile (apart from the name of course). Just b'coz it has a speakerphone, the manufacturers got an option to change the name from T230 TO T290i. Isn't it?
