Sony Ericsson K508i

Sony Ericsson K508i is an exciting entertainment device thanks to its gaming features and other multimedia applications.

Dimensions of K508i are 103 x 46 x 20 mm and it weighs 88g, making it reasonably comfy phone as far as portability is concerned.

Very much like K500i in appearance, it has a user-friendly interface. Buttons on the keypad here are well spaced out which eases out keypad use to a great extent. The phone has an in-built speakerphone, a very important addition.

K500i incorporates an attractive 65,000 colour display which has a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels.

The in-built VGA camera has a 4x digital zoom with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. While this sounds good, it has a major limitation as videos shot with this camera are restricted to a very small duration.

There are 3D Java games present. But for the unsatisfied souls there is also the provision of downloading more.

Apart from gaming, a media player which supports MP3 & MPEG4 is a good pastime. There are 40-voice polyphonic ringtones. And if you want more the MusicDJ technology allows you to compose ringtones too.

There are also some pretty cool wallpapers as also animated characters in MMS. Not only that, this phone enables you to share messages and pictures with your loved ones.

Presence of cHTML web browser allows you to surf the net.

Though standard, the other useful functions consist of the clock, reminders, alarm et al.

But it does have a few demerits, very much like the K500i. Prominent among them are a limited memory of barely 12 MB which won’t magnetize the public.

Connectivity tools include USB and infrared. But the absence of Bluetooth is certainly jarring.

A triband, it gives you 7 hours of talktime and up to 300 hours of standby period.

Using the K508i gives one a mixed feeling as it does have an efficiency factor but undoubtedly more attention has been paid to the entertainment value with gaming and music given prominence.

Sony Ericsson K508i is an exciting entertainment device thanks to its gaming features and other multimedia applications.

Don’t go for this
How on earth do people rate this as a good phone? It’s bad, no it’s worse, no no, it’s the worst; at least of all the phones I have used till now. The 12MB memory minus a memory card slot is a pittance. The games are horrendous and I was shell-shocked with the petite battery life. And what the hell is this. Digital zoom only for videos not pics. There is no way to switch off the shutter noise so anyone like me with a detective mind will go mad as u cannot shot any pic in a secretive manner. Hello, aren’t u tired after reading all this. That enough. But remember, u dare not purchase this phone.

Horribly horrible
After using the K508i for only a week, I disgusted enough to say that it’s the most awful thing on planet. All the expansive features come to nil when tested. The camera is awfully bad and it makes an irksome noise every time you take a snap. Still worse is the limited memory which hardly allows you to store anything. And things don’t get any better. Can anyone plz tell me why it does not support Bluetooth. The MP3 player hangs more than my PC. All the games are ridiculous. What on earth was I doing when purchasing this horror piece.
