Sony Ericsson K300i
In many ways, K300i reminds one of Sony Ericsson’s well-appreciated T610, especially in regards to design. But unlike the T610 cover which was a fusion of aluminum and gloss, K300i's plastic design makes it look rather bleak.
The keypad arrangement includes an undersized thumb joystick for navigation, enclosed by two shortcut keys, a back key and a clear/delete key. The numeric buttons are again rather small for comfortable use.
A triband with GPRS/GSM connectivity, the standard features present are alarm clock, calendar, tasks, notes, stopwatch and a calculator. More than 510 contacts can be stored in the K300i's phonebook and there are added fields such as e-mail, URL, address and a photo.
In addition, Sony Ericsson K300i offers users with some pretty handy benefits like the megapixel camera (with video recording mode) and Bluetooth facility. Moreover, the infrared port is also present which allows you to gain access to the PC.
K300i has a comprehensive menu sections with various options available for camera, internet operations, file manager, messaging etc.
The VGA camera has a resolution of 640 x 480-pixel and gives rather satisfactory results. You can also utilise the night mode function which facilitates taking snaps in murky conditions. But despite the presence of this useful mode, the camera doesn’t give impressive outputs when compared with shots taken in daylight.
Entertainment value is provided by exciting Java games, Darts and FiveStones. There is also a provision to download more games from Sony Ericsson's Web site thanks to the presence of WAP technology.
The media player is compatible with MP3, MIDI, WAV and 3GP files. You can also check out the MusicDJ section through which you can compose tunes and PlayNow- for downloading music tracks. These novel features are certain to attract teens.
In the file manager section, you can glance through pictures, sounds, videos, games etc. To assist downloading, WAP links are available in a good number of these categories.
For text and picture messaging , the T9 dictionary mode included. After successful delivery of a message, the receiver is added to a short list of regularly used numbers. K300i also gives you the facility to create POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts.
The most disappointing aspect is that only 12MB of internal memory available. That aside, the camera and video recorder, MP3 player, Java games and 65k colour display make it a reasonably respectable phone.

Just about OK
I’ve been using the K300i for the last 6 months and wud term it as only an average phone. The mobile is compact and looks quite nice. Not too many issues with the battery life either. Ringtones are reasonably good and I don’t have too much trouble with the SMS either. Reception quality is very good. However there are a few evident problems while operation the keypad. Not only is it uncomfortable but also very noisy. The screen is really bad and the camera is not any better.

Man this rocks!!!
Sony Ericsson’s K300i is a rocking mobile. Lets to the few minuses first. The keys are not in perfect shape. They are so deep-seated in the surface that sometimes you can’t perform a simple task like pressing the buttons. Functions assigned to some buttons are illogical. But these are among the only faults you’ll find. Enjoy the easy to use interface, gr8 display, tons of memory space, e-mail, internet etc.
