Nokia 6600
The race to capture the mobile phone market has resulted in a number of features being introduced in handsets. But the most popular feature by far is the digital camera that cell phones are sporting these days. In this segment, one of the most popular handsets is the Nokia 6600. A new-age design, combined with enhanced features, has made this one a favourite with many a tech freaks. Let’s take a close look at the features that make this one a cut above the rest.
An overview
In a nutshell, the handset sports an integrated digital camera equipped with zoom, a video recorder with audio support, streaming video and audio capabilities, wireless Bluetooth and infrared connectivity, a whopping 6 MB internal memory, and provision for memory card to increase user memory and applications. In addition, the Nokia 6600 supports Java MIDP 2.0 applications, allows for data synchronisation with a personal computer via PC Suite and exhibits tri-band operation in GSM E900/1800/1900 networks.
Size-wise
A user-friendly feature of this phone is that it is lighter than the Nokia 7650, which made the first splash with its camera features. Without the SIM card, it weighs about 125 g, battery included. However, its size is a little larger than other new camera handsets and it completely fits the palm. The dimensions are 108.6 x 58.2 x 23.7 mm.
Display and user interface
The colour display of the Nokia 6600 easily puts those of other handset to shame. The bright active matrix TFT display, with a 65,536 colour capability, is effective even in bad light conditions. The screen’s dimensions are 176 x 208 pixels. The user interface has Symbian operating system 7.0s and is built on a Series 60 platform. A five-way joystick makes for easy navigation through myriad menu options.
Digital features
The Nokia 6600 camera comes with a 2x digital zoom. The camera, with 640 x 480 pixel resolution, has adjustable capabilities for standard, portrait, and night mode pics and video clips. One can also choose the size of the photograph to be clicked as well as turn the audio on and off while shooting a clip. A gallery effective stores images, sounds and videos downloaded onto or shot from the handset.
The Nokia 6600 also sports a RealOne player to play music and record audio clips.
Internet advantages
The handset comes equipped with an advanced XHTML browser. In addition, the phone can also store numbers and passwords. On GPRS networks, the data transfer happens at a rate of up to 40.2 Kbps, while on HSCSD network it’s up to 43.2 Kbps.
In spite of a rather large frame, this one is a value for money through and through, especially for those who like to hold their entire electronic world in their palm.

Sensational!!!
After having used this phone for close to six months, I can tell you that this is without doubt the best I have used. Hardy any of the functions gave me trouble. Messaging is easy and very quick. Except at home, you get great reception elsewhere. You can download pictures and ringtones without a hint of trouble. Won’t say camera performance is gr8 but very much acceptable. Battery life is reasonable but connectivity features are gr8. You can also take advantage of the expansion facilities provided. User interface is very very user friendly. Can’t ask for too much more, can you?

Excellent for Businessmen
The Nokia 6600 can best be described as the perfect tool for busy entrepreneurs as it inculcates a lot of has all the features required for corporate people on the go like Bluetooth, e mail accessibility and a lot more. It is unfortunately a bit too heavy. But the business minded people won’t mind it that much as long as it does their job efficiently.
