Nokia D211
A multimode radio card, the Nokia D211 is essentially useful to be in touch with your PC even when you are not near it. This wireless data connectivity device is perfect for those with a hectic schedule who are always on the go.
With D211, you can get access to your PC via the GPRS, CSD, and HSCSD etc. The CSD (circuit switched data) and HSCSD (high-speed circuit switched data) connections provide data speeds up to 9.6 kbps and 43.2 kbps respectively while when connected via GPRS, you can work at a sped of 40.2 kbps.
You are also capable of connecting the D211 through wireless LAN networks as it supports 802.11b-based wireless infrastructures. This is indeed an amazing aspect of D211 as there are hardly any cards than come with this built-in LAN feature. If there is a wireless LAN infrastructure set up in your office, all you have to do is input the pertinent network settings and you are then ready to work. In a wireless LAN settings, you can enjoy speeds up to 11 mbps.
Parallels can definitely be drawn with the preceding Nokia Card Phone models. D211 includes an opening for inserting the SIM card which thankfully is pretty easy to remove to. At the back near the SIM card slot also resides the antenna.
Overall, the styling and built is praiseworthy. The card is very firm and feels good.
The easy installation process begins with CD-ROM provided with the card which guides you on how to set up the D211 on your PC. The process involves installing the appropriate drivers and software, and the creating a network profile which will allow use of GSM data/GPRS and/or WLAN features. Once that is done properly, you are ready to use the D211.
This is done by placing the card into the PCMCIA slot after which Windows will identify this and D211 icons will emerge on the right hand side of your right taskbar which gives you the options of the different modes like GSM, GPRS, WLAN and also the off mode.
The D211 is truly a marvelous data connectivity device. There are not too many multimode cards that can allow you access through data CSD, HSCSD and GPRS modes. So if you want to be in touch with your PC everywhere you go, don’t look too far. D211 is the perfect solution.

Utter crap, I agree
I have to agree. The WLAN function just does not work. I have tried to connect it to Linkys, Netgear and 3Com wireless routers, and had no success at all. I then used a cheap brand card, and it connected to all 3, both unsecure and WEP enabled. Nokia's support on this product is shocking. I decided I enough time had been spent trying to polish this turd, and decided to use a SonyEric GPRS card with a seperate WLAN card. I would recommend anyone to avoid this product.

Utter crap
The Nokia D211 was supposed to be a good multimode card. But it’s only according to Nokia that this card works. I purchased this card after reading about it online but it just doesn’t work the way Nokia has promoted. I have found it impossible to get the WLAN working. Their customer support staff however felt that it was not cards fault but the network’s. Well enough is enough. Just want 2 warn u people don’t fall into the trap that I fell. Or else you will be shelling out your money on something absolutely worthless.
