Nokia 1110

If you’d thought that plain, no-nonsense phones had been lost into oblivion, think again. The Nokia 1110 actually reminds you of ‘keeping it short and simple’. Assembled in a neat, utilitarian design, this dual-band GSM phone is a blessing for first-time mobile users who are relatively wary of the price and require a sturdy and steadfast cell phone, something essentially based on simple technology.

The Nokia 1110 encompasses beauty in its inverted black and white display and carries a novel feature in its user-friendly interface, which has symbols displayed explicitly along with comfortably legible font sizes and its convenient four-way scroll. Additionally, this phone offers interesting attributes like a speaking alarm as well as the clock, and an extremely nifty Demo Mode which steers a first time user along the various functions of the phone, providing an intelligent visual escort to the owner to run chief mobile operations. Games in the Nokia 1110 that are pre-installed, like the Pocket Carrom, can be played through the Demo Mode even when there is no SIM card.

Furthermore, prepaid users will immensely benefit with the display of their prepaid balance on the 1110 screen via the Prepaid Tracker that provides the up-to-the minute account details. Besides, a 20-chord polyphonic ringer plays the MP3 grade sound and the Talktime Counter looks after the cost of your phone calls by supervising the usage of your phone. However, one must note that even though pre-installed polyphonic ringtones are available in the phone, new polyphonic ringtones cannot be downloaded.

The internal memory of the phone allows 200 entries, and up to 250 entries on the SIM card. The Nokia 1110 has a reverse monochrome screen with up to 65,536 colours and weighs light at 80 grams.

To be made available around the third quarter of 2005, with EGSM 900 and GSM 1800 compatible networks, the Nokia 1110, however, does leave you wishing it were a triple band phone.

If you’d thought that plain, no-nonsense phones had been lost into oblivion, think again.

Simple and efficient
I was looking for a fone carrying only the basic functions and a very economical one at that. Someone recommended the 1110 to me and its been an absolutely wonderful experience to own this phone. I wud give it a 10 out of 10 rating. Not because it plays excellent music or captures mind blowing pictures. No it doesn’t do anything of that sort and I was not looking for any of those waste of money features either. I like it because it is a basic fone performing all the standard activities accurately. The phone has a very clear screen. Ringtones are loud and clear. Text messaging is simple and speedy. It has all the standard features you want in a phone. Battery life is awesome. Don’t need to charge it again and again. Well that’s about it. For me it’s a gr8 phone.

Simple yet effective
First things first, Nokia 1110 is a no frills phone. So if you are interested in Blueetooth, Infrared, etc.. this review is not for you. This is a simple phone for ones with low budget and not looking for any fancy embellishments. All you get with this phone is great reception quality almost everywhere, distinct screen (no colour but good backlighting for night use) and not least of all, an enhanced battery life but obvious due to the absence of digital camera, colour screen and other costly features. If you believe in the Keep it sweet and simple policy, 1110 is yours for the taking.
