Nokia 7710

Nokia 7710 is the revitalized version of 7700 with ample of useful multimedia features.

The dimensions of 128x69.5x19 mm are too large for comfort levels and with a hefty weight of 189 g, don’t even think of carrying it in your shirt pocket. It in fact feels more like a digicam than a mobile. Even so, it still has its merits as the large size means all information displayed on the screen is comprehensible.

7710’s screen comes with a 640x320 pixels resolution and it is 65K TFT. The display quality is good with vibrant colours making the images on the screen very radiant. The screen is in a landscape format and being touch-sensitive it is extremely helpful for users. With no keypads though, you have to rely on the handwriting recognition or stylus input. Fascinatingly, it is also possible is write a handwritten note and send it to anyone through MMS.

What’s very disappointing is the picture quality of the digital camera. The snaps taken through the megapixel with a resolution of 1152x864 look jaded even as the speakers and the microphone do their job efficiently.

Functioning in accordance with the Series 90 platform, the impressive features of 7710 includes accommodation of the Personal Information Management (PIM) software, a Web browser, e-mail and in addition you can also work on office documents, making it a very useful device for busy professionals always on the go.

But this cell’s not all about work. For those looking to have fun, check out the radio.

Memory wise, you get a good deal with an enormous 128MB of memory of which 90MB of space is usable. For enhancement of course you can always make use of the Multimedia Card which can increase the memorys space to 512MB.

It does have triband capability, but does not incorporate the infrared facility and you will have to be content with the Bluetooth functionality or data cable.

The battery used by 7710 is 1300 mAh (BP-5L) Li-Pol which will give users 12 hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time if manufacturers are to be believed and recharging the phone takes up almost three hours.

7710’s enriched multimedia features will sure attract the professionals but the unsatisfactory camera performance and ungainly dimensions might stand as a thorn in flesh.

Nokia 7710 is the revitalized version of 7700 with ample of useful multimedia features.

A little good a little bad
The title would have given u enough idea about this nokia phone. It leaves one very much with mixed emotions. Let’s start with the size, I for one feel it is just 2 big for comfortable usage and the weight of almost 200 g is close to unbearable. The mobile display is crisp and clear. Camera is worthless as the picture quality is horrible. Don’t even bother taking snaps. Browsing features are useful. Radio adds to the entertainment value. Memory features aren’t 2 bad. No infrared. Battery life is bad, recharging takes ages. Hmmm… the ball is in your court.

It’s a waste
After using 7710 I can’t say that I am the proud owner of this phone. The design looks very charming. But don’t get misled into buying it just b’coz of this reason. Haven’t you heard never judge a book by its cover? The keypad arrangement will definitely make you pull your hair out. The bulky size makes it look extremely uncomfortable in your hand. The features are undoubtedly advanced but if you are not comfortable using it thanks 2 the above mentioned goof-ups, what’s the use?
