Nokia 7270 – a style aspirant

Nokia makes a serious attempt to get into the ‘cellphone-as-fashion-accessory’ league with the 7270. And fails. Despite passable good looks – retro black and red combo, and a set of PDA features, it’s still streets behind its stylish peers. It appears to be a lesser sibling of the eye-catching 7280 with fewer features.

This jazzy, triband clamshell type handset is the third in Nokia’s vintage series. It has the usual external LCD screen offering 96 x 65pixel, 4K-colour display. But it’s the internal 65k-colour, 128 x 160pixel TFT screen that impresses. Yet it cannot be compared with 262K-colour screen from other brands currently available.

You might find the external screen’s display a bit dated; but on the plus side, the handset has a responsive interface and an onboard FM tuner.

Weighing 121g, it’s a bit heavier than rival handsets with the same set of features, such as Motorola’s V3 and Pantech’ GI100. With more and more models shedding bulk in favour of a slimmer, lighter look, the 7270 could find competition tough.

The keypad, flush with the body, is very easy to use because the individual keys are large enough.

The features include a VGA camera for 640 x 480pixel pictures (normal/portrait/night mode), and video recording. The camera may prove to be a bit frustrating if you try to catch candid shots. You may miss the action due to the 1 second shutter lag. In video, you cannot record more than 4 minutes.

0Other features on this Series 40 platform include email support, voice recording, support for EDGE data transfer, basic PDA functions and a 760mAh Lithium-ion battery that is known to last long. You may find the absence of

This is a joke
I’ve been using this phone for a couple of months now and I say it’s bad enough to not deserve a review. Everything about this fone is bad except for say the FM radio feature. Other wise, this phone sucks. It looks like an early 1900’s piece due to the awful designing. Screen quality is the worst. Keypad cannot be used easily. Purchasing this is just plain simple waste of money.

Horribly bad
I don’t have this phone. But I have often used it as my friends own it. There are many bad points about this phone which I would like to point out for those thinking of purchasing this phone. The display is awfully bad and to be honest the screen looks completely jaded. Keys are not really soft and comfortable to press. The phone itself doesn’t attract you at the outset. Among the few positives are the FM radio and sound quality. But such good features are few and far between. I certainly will not buy it. What about u?
