Nokia 6170

Nokia has undergone a metallic makeover in its clamshell category, with the Nokia 6170. Sheathed in an enthralling metallic style, this model screams ‘steel’ all the way.

Packed in a decent feature package, the 6170 sports a small external colour display along with a vast internal high-resolution display of 65k colours. While the external display exhibits usual details of received incoming calls, the date, time and status of the phone, it is also facilitated to put up attractive wallpapers and screensavers to enhance its visual appeal. Its internal TFT display is a resplendent and lucid screen, albeit not very large.

Adorning its impressive metallic outfit is a built-in VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) with a video mode, as well as a media player. It offers swift connectivity through prompt data transfer on EDGE networks and USB. Even though the in-vogue Bluetooth wireless, connection is absent here, all other features like the 40-voice polyphonic ringtones and set of Java games of this stylish phone considerably offset this shortcoming.

An attribute that sets this phone a class apart is that the 6170 is the first clamshell phone togged up in a coloured external screen having 4096 colours and a resolution of 96x65 pixels. Another endearing feature of this phone that will make you fall in love with it is its extremely spacious keypad with keys placed luxuriously at ease that offload half the burden off your fingers while typing or making a call and render work effortlessly accomplished. A blue light flashes at the back of the keyboard at all times.

The Nokia 6170 is a body of steel and therefore might not be too handy for petite folks considering its 121g weight and 88 x 46 x 22 mm size. Alternatively, it could also be said that this phone is majorly a masculine model for real men!

Rocking phone!!!
There is more to 6170 than just great features. Yup it looks absolutely mind-boggling. I’ve been using it for over a month and no complaint yet. Everything else is also good. The ringtones are sensational. Keyboard is so so easy to use. Sending SMS is very easy. Reception is gr8. It is good that this phone is slightly on the heavier side as it makes it easy hold and feels very solid in the palms. Simply superb.

Very useful phone
Nokia 6170 is a gr8 phone no doubt. It has most of the features one looks for in a cell. I was certainly impressed by the design at first sight and though it should not be considered among the essential features of the phone, i must admit that I fell for the exterior look in the first place. Recording phone is something I have been doin a lot ecver since getting used to 6170. The screen display is impressive no doubt. Camera isn’t bad either. The keys are also well placed. How abt the buttons on the side for instant recording? But it is definitely the absence of Bluetooth that prevents it from becoming a complete phone. Else this is certainly a more than useful phone.
