Nokia 3230

Nokia has yet another entrant in its smartphone category, the Nokia 3230, but this time with a conspicuous difference. Nokia 3230 is set to make smartphones a luxury that even masses can afford, in contrast to its exorbitantly priced cotemporaries that have so far rendered smartphones as a mere dream for many.

Chock-a-block with famous features, the Nokia 3230 has a 1.3 megapixel camera and offers a video recording capacity of about an hour with its 32 MB MMC card. It also sports an MP3 player and allows you to go wireless with Bluetooth. So, if you own the 3230, you can splurge yourself in multiplayer games or take a quick trip of the web, surf HTML and xHTML Web pages, almost whenever and wherever you like. What’s more, the 3230 will elicit the creativity out of you by letting you create your own ringtones and print your own mobile images.

Nokia 3230 is boxed in a compact case measuring109 mm x 49 mm x 19 mm and weighs extremely light at 110g. Donning a reasonably sized 65,536-color screen, the 3230 does not disappoint when placed at par with highly priced phones. Furthermore, a few extra features, like the Visual Radio, Push to Talk together with Tunes Studio, which is a polyphonic ringtone composer, make it an owner’s delight.

Additionally, a rather interesting Kodak Mobile Service comes with the 3230 that allows you to transfer pictures onto the Kodak site that also delivers printed photographs at your address if you wish. In fact, pictures can also be printed, although at a price, through Bluetooth at any Kodak stall put up at Nokia’s retail outlet.

Few drawbacks of the 3230 are its rather poor audio quality and rigid keypad. One has to press the thumb reasonably hard while using the numeric keypad. Contrarily, the 3230 also has the five-way joystick, which definitely is a pleasant addition. It can be manoeuvred easily and is quite accurate in its operation. Moreover, the backlighting of the 3230 is a visual treat with an even spread of light below all keys.

Can get worse than this
Not in my wildest dream will I recommend the Nokia 3230 to anyone, not even to my biggest enemy. Guess u will have a pretty fair idea of what you are going to read in this review. First of all let me tell you that I have owned this fone for only for one month but more importantly, hardly used it for 5 days. Yes b’coz within the first 3-4 days itself, the phone stopped functioning. Then the hell I had to run after their service centre guys to get it fixed. And guess what they still haven’t sorted out the problem. Purchase it at your own peril.

Pretty cool
The Nokia 3230 will not leave to totally satisfied but neither is it completely disappointing. Among some of the good features, I like the FM radio. The megapixel camera gives good quality pictures. Remember, it supports the latest technology called EDGE. And the push-2-talk technology is also very attractive. The 32 RS MMC card is nothing great but thankfully you can expand it to 128 or 256 as per your wsishes. I was horribly disappointed with the design. That apart not many complaints though some of the features could definitely have been better.
