Befriend the handheld race with the i-mate JAM
Welcome to the world of hassle-free expedient networking and a multi-talented combination device that offers you just the right blend of facilities and features with sheer effortlessness. The new i-mate JAM is 5.8cm × 10.8cm × 1.81cm small and 160 gm light rendering it extremely portable and smaller than general O2 and HP Pocket PCs. i-Mate is set to give all its contemporaries severe competition!
With an impressively neat silver exterior, the i-mate has a black corrugated side grip that is quite comfortable. Besides being a tri-band GSM/GPRS unit, this phone is also available SIM-free and presents regular Windows Mobile applications installed in ROM, along with a few i-mate extras. Even though its 16MHz Intel XScale PXA272 processor is not too swift, it did not disappoint us during its trial period. Its 64MB RAM has user accessibility of 57.41MB which can be perceived to be quite low as compared to the availability of devices offering 128MB or even more.
Furthermore, the i-mate has an SD card slot for allowing you to add more memory. However, you will have to use it to install Wi-Fi that is not an integral part of the i-mate but an add-on feature. Now this really did put us off since an en-suite Wi-Fi has an incomparable charm of its own. The i-mate, surely does offer you the Bluetooth facilitating handsfree voice calls as well as wireless data synchronisation.
i-mate JAM’s screen, meanwhile, is a resplendent surface, albeit a bit too small, making the keyboard feel a little choked. But, i-mate has intelligently offered a solution with its two-version keyboard that makes dialling a breeze. As per its performance, the i-mate JAM has a commendable battery life and is easy to manage with its small size enabling a single-hand operation. Priced at £399 exclusive of a contract, the i-mate can be called a tad expensive; although the Web at Expansys is offering you at just £164.

Great screen, good O/S, awesome audio, bad keypad
The screen looks impressive and the menu responds promptly unlike in my earlier Motorola phone. It's also a more efficient PDA than some of the other brand phones that my friends have. And what can I say about the audio quality: to use the previous reviewer Sandybaby's words "this baby 'rocks'! Yeah!

‘all in one’ phone
The I-mate Jam is a marvel in the true sense. What else can I say for a phone, PDA and camera all in one. I love the design coz it’s really friendly. Most of the features are really useful. Thanks a ton for the 1GB SDIO card. This functions at a rapid speed and will certainly not disappoint you. I recently replaced my old piece with I-Jam and man it rocks.
