Handy & economical: JVC GR-D240

Spherical and silver-grey in color, the JVC GR-D240 is exceptionally lightweight with controls placed on the side. There is a button which when pushed opens the menu on the screen.

The D240 has a 25x optical zoom as also an 800x digital zoom. Above the transport controls, the night, backlight and focus buttons are placed. Zoom options can be found at the upper part of the camcorder and toggle from left to right unlike the common forward to backward motion.

The MiniDV tapes have to be put in through the bottom while batteries are positioned at the back. Using different options, you can run the camcorder for several hours.

The JVC GR-D240 has a 64mm (2.5-inch) LCD, which when turned through 180 degrees, allows you to both record yourself and concurrently view the shot.

While recording a video, the D240E uses a 1/6 inch 800,000 pixel CCD to capture pictures at a resolution of 400,000 pixels.

The D240 uses the customary FireWire port useful in editing your work in softwares like like iMovie, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.

Proficient at capturing stills at a resolution of 1.2 megapixels (1,280x960), the D240 price range for D240 starts from £236 onwards.

Great as entry level digi-cam
This is my first digital camera. I'd say, you don't need any instruction manuals, if you are using this one. Never mind the image quality, I'm learning. And the zoom is a great feature. I believe it's considered an expensive camera. I got it as a gift.

Worth it
I purchased the JVC GR-D240 a fortnight back and so far have nothing much to complain. The optical zoom and digital zoom make the cam very effective. But a few picks that I took didn't come out perfectly. Anyways, the LCD allows you to record and watch a shot at the same time which is a great feature. The weight is not a problem neither is the price. So I feel is worth spending your money on.
