The O2 xda IIi is the latest entrant in the xda species following in the footsteps of xda II and xda IIs. Designed in accordance with the characteristic xda format, the size of the latest model is 69 by 130 by 19.9mm, same as that of its predecessor xda IIs and it weights 200g, a negligible 10g heavier than the previous model.

As expected, it has an in-built digital camera, the key for which has been placed on the left border. Here you also have a volume control button and a shortcut key for the in-built software-Notes. There is an earpiece attachment on the bottom right fringe which can be used while attending calls.

Among the prominent features of xda IIi, available at £179.99, are a 520MHz Intel PXA 272 processor, and 128MB of RAM. For extension you are provided with a SDIO-compliant SD card slot.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are also offered by xda IIi. Another unique feature allows you to change the screen to landscape form if you desire so.

With a 1.3 megapixel camera, you can take pictures at resolutions up to 960x1,280 pixels Video clips can be shot at resolutions of 240x320, 144x176 and 96x128. Separate camera setting options are offered for shooting MMS videos.

The Windows Media Player has the advanced version 10. A tri-band GSM with GPRS, the screen displays 16-bit color depth and 240x320-pixel resolution and is of 89mm diagonal size.

The O2 Active screen mode rapidly links you to connected applications and the standard Today feature gives daily reminders of appointments and other tasks, warnings regarding unread mails.

The O2 xda IIi is the latest entrant in the xda species following in the footsteps of xda II and xda IIs.

bog standard stuff
Although, this is supposed to be a smartphone (an evolved cousin of the cellphone) offering Bluetooth and WiFi, I regard it as little more than ordinary - all the features like the 1.3 megapix camera, separate camera options, tri-band GSM+GPRS, Windows Media Player, etc., are to be expected from any such product. I got impressed by its looks and its advertising. Now I wish I had checked with another user before buying.

not great
I found the XDAIIi highly disappointing. It hangs very easily like your PC and the bluetooth headset should be called bluetooth headache. Whenever I received a missed call, the bluetooth headset disconnects automatically and only reconnects after the phone rings for 3 to 4 seconds when I get a second call. This is my first pda phone and I’m regret the buy so try first!
