In a class of its own: Sony KDL-L32MRX1

If you’re one of those individuals who disregard the price of a product if its appearance fits into their lifestyle, then Sony’s 32-inch LCD TV the KDL-L32MRX1 is for you. It could grace your well-appointed living room or add a surreal touch to the muted environs of your bedroom.

If, on the other hand, you ask questions - about its features, compatibility, if it’s worth the price tag of £2,934, and whether it will last or soon become obsolete, then you would still contemplate buying it.

This LCD TV from Sony UK is a real treat for watching Freeview TV and DVDs. It offers excellent picture quality (better than any rival LCD TV) and Freeview compatibility. You can also record your favourite programs onto a Memory Stick and playback.

If there is any product that is a decent combination of style and performance then it has to be this LCD TV. Never mind that High Def Televisions have already arrived and this one lacks HDMI/DVI input. The KDL-L32MRX1 is still an eye-stopper among these snooty, high-priced, next-gen TVs. Its picture quality (thanks to the Wega Engine technology) will convince you that the price is well justified. The product is a clear improvement over all of Sony’s previous LCD efforts.

The digital tuner is part of a separate media box which offers increased connectivity – with three Scart sockets and a set of component inputs. Yes, we know what you’re thinking: why is there no DVI socket? And why no support for MP3/ATRAC? Well, you could weigh this drawback against the pros. Or you could choose not to break the bank until the right HD version comes your way.

The sound is also befitting a home cinema system. If you plan to set it up as part of your home cinema system, then these speakers will serve well as dedicated centre channel speakers.

All the pros and cons should convince you it is still a good buy, if you’re not particularly worried that it might become obsolete.

The visual effect is spooky !!!
At first I quite enjoyed watching anything on KDL-L32MRX1. Until, I surfed to a sports channel. A cricket match was in progress and as the camera panned across the stands, I saw only human heads with no features (no eyes, nose, mouth, etc.) at all. Spooky, isn't it? Is this the difference between an HD plasma screen and this one. Would you pay three grand for this?

Impressive sound quality
I was floored by the sound. Man, the Sony KDL-L32MRX1 system rocks. I love watching the song videos. They's real cool. Are the high def plasma TVs as good in their sound? Not that I have the moolah for one. Next year, perhaps.
